When it comes to General Hospital, every fan has their own opinion – and Soap Hub is no different. For five days, we sat and watched the good, the bad, and everything in between, and now we offer you a handy review, and a cheeky critique, of the GH week that was.
If you believe that Luke Spencer (Anthony Geary) is really dead, then I have a bridge in Brooklyn to sell to you.
At this point, General Hospital’s penchant for having a character presumed dead – usually without the benefit of a body being located – then suddenly resurfacing alive and well (and, in some cases, sporting an entirely new face or personality) is laughable.
Then again…General Hospital has devolved into the type of soap opera that would off a legacy character, off-screen, at a time when the canvas is devoid of persons intimately connected to them.
Sure, GH can trot Bobbie Spencer (Jacklyn Zeman) out of the Martin attic and have her (rightfully) deduce that shenanigans are afoot; and it’s nice to see Genie Francis and Jane Elliot front and center…but wouldn’t Luke’s death have even more meaning if his kids were around to react to it? There’s already a big gaping hole where Lulu and Lucky should be, and the longer this storyline goes on, the bigger it will get.
* At what point is a secret no longer a secret? How many cooks before the broth spoils? As of this writing, Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms), Brook Lynn Quartermaine (Amanda Setton), Harrison Chase (Josh Swickard), and Tracy all know that Bailey and Louise are one and the same…who’s going to figure it out next? And what does it say about Valentin Cassadine’s (James Patrick Stuart) and Anna Devane’s (Finola Hughes) skills as intelligence officers that neither one of them has reached the conclusion?
Speaking of Vanna…what better way to ruin their budding romance than have Valentin be responsible for an untoward fate befalling that baby? Sure General Hospital knows they have a good thing going with these two…then again, they’re quickly making Martin Grey (Michael E. Knight) an undesirable by having him play lackey to evil Peter August (Wes Ramsey); and just when I was starting to really root for him and Lucy Coe (Lynn Herring).
* For all her posturing when it comes to leaving her past unedited, perhaps Portia Robinson (Brook Kerr) should turn back the clock, and come clean about Trina Robinson’s (Sydney Mikayla) paternity.
* With A Friend Like This: Just when Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) seemed resigned to a life without her beloved “Mike” (Maurice Benard), Ava Jerome Cassadine (Maura West) had to go and encourage her sick fantasy.
