Actress Sofia Mattsson is expecting her first child in real life, just like her General Hospital alter ego, Sasha Gilmore. It means the actress will soon be heading off on maternity leave, and the soap will have to script a story to accommodate her absence. What direction might the show go with Sasha? Here are three possibilities.
Cyrus Strikes Again
Sure, Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober) has been carted off to prison, but as he’s shown in the past, he can still wheel and deal from behind bars. His jealousy over Brando (Johnny Wactor) fathering Sasha’s baby could provoke him to take action over the duo.
Perhaps he could kidnap the pregnant Sasha and take her to the same facility where he was housing his mother. Knowing he separated the expectant parents and making Bando fear for Sasha’s life would be the perfect payback. Cyrus could keep the mother and child hostage until Mattsson’s ready to return to the soap.
The Wrath of Gladys
Brando’s mom Gladys (Bonnie Burroughs) seems happy that she’s about to become a grandmother, but she doesn’t appear to be too fond of her son’s choice in baby mamas. And she’s always been a loose cannon. What if Gladys decides to arrange a way to get Sasha out of the picture, so she and Brando could raise her baby without her?
Gladys could arrange an unfortunate accident for Sasha after she gives birth, which leads everyone to believe she’s dead. Sasha would remain off the canvas until Mattsson returns to work, and viewers learn she was saved by a mysterious stranger.
Michael to the Rescue
Realizing Sasha might be in danger from Cyrus and/or wacky Gladys, Michael (Chad Duell) steps up to keep his old girlfriend safe. He’ll have extra time on his hands since Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) married Chase (Josh Swickard). Michael could whisk Sasha off to Sonny’s island home or take her to one of the Corinthos safe houses, where she could deliver her baby in peace and comfort.
Then Sasha could lay low until Michael makes sure things are under control, and she could safely return to Port Charles. Will GH take one of these three routes? Tune in to find out! General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
