Tyler Gwozdz, a reality TV star who appeared on the Hannah Brown season of The Bachelorette, has died. He was 29.
TMZ reports that Gwozdz had been taken to the hospital on Monday, January 13 after paramedics and police rushed to his home following a 911 call for a possible drug overdose. Gwozdz was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
For a week, he was listed in critical but stable condition. As of last Tuesday, he was no longer listed as a current patient in the hospital’s system. He died on Wednesday, January 22.
Bachelor in Paradise contestant Luke Stone tweeted: “I lost one of my closest friends today- Tyler I’ll miss you every day, miss our hours long conversations about nonsense over the phone, miss how damn funny you were, I had so much happiness and joy for what the future held for us as friends. I love you man, so much.”
“We are heartbroken to hear the tragic news of Tyler’s passing today. Our thoughts are with the Gwozdz family and his friends,” the producers of The Bachelor said in a statement.
Gwozdz posted on his Instagram page a photo of their first meeting and wrote about how her smile helped him overcome any nerves. “How can you be nervous once you see that smile? 👸🤩🌹…Have a safe weekend guys, see ya Monday !!”
It’s difficult to say how far Gwozdz might have gone in the competition when he signed onto the show to win Brown’s heart. During the May 27, 2019 episode, viewers learned Gwozdz had left the series. No detailed explanation was offered. He had been excited to be on the show, posting on Instagram:
“When you realize Monday is your new favorite day of the week,” referencing the day of the week that The Bachelorette airs. At press time, Brown had not made a public statement about Gwozdz’s passing. Entertainment Hub sends condolences to Gwozdz’s family and friends during this difficult time.
