The Walking Dead’s Jeffrey Dean Morgan Eyed for Iconic Video Game Movie

Jeffrey Dean Morgan, The Walking Dead’s sinister Negan, may be trading in his baseball bat for a fire ball-shooting flower, as the actor is rumored to be up for the role of Luigi in a new live-action Mario Brothers film that Nintendo is looking to make.

Jeffrey Dean Morga May Take On Iconic Role

The website We Got This Covered reported Morgan is one of the top names on Nintendo’s want-list to play the videogame icon.

Luigi was created by prominent game designer Shigeru Miyamoto and made his first appearance in 1983 in Nintendo’s Mario Bros., serving as the Player Two’s character alongside Player One’s Mario. He is younger and taller than Mario and has appeared in a host of games throughout the Mario franchise, often keeping the role of sidekick to his brother.

Many video game enthusiasts have analyzed the character in depth and reports are that in Mario Kart 8, if one looks at the game in slow motion, Luigi is said to have “a death stare,” a sinister expression that appears on his face whenever he bashes someone with a shell or passes them. Sounds like Morgan won’t have to stray too far from his current character to deliver that level of ominous threat. Plus, we know he looks good with a mustache!

Even though Morgan’s Negan is presumably one of the safest characters on the show, his Walking Dead schedule would allow him to have enough time to do a movie, as like most featured actors, he’s only in about a dozen episodes each season.

We Got This Covered cited an anonymous source about the potential casting but noted it was the same source that correctly revealed Han was returning in Fast & Furious 9 and Ahsoka Tano would cameo in Season 2 of The Mandalorian— both of which proved correct.

Additionally, the site shared that Brie Larson was being considered for the role of Princess Peach.
