Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner are no longer together, but their relationship will always be remembered in Hollywood. Not only did they star in multiple movies together, but they also created a beautiful family and dazzled on countless red carpets.
Despite their break-up, Affleck and Garner are still close and work together to co-parent their children. From how they first met to their intimate wedding, find out more about the former celebrity couple.
Garner and Affleck first met almost 20 years ago while filming the movie Pearl Harbor in the summer of 2000. While romance didn’t blossom between them at the time, it was the start of their working relationship.
A Slow Build
Two years later, Affleck and Garner were cast in the film Daredevil, which is where they fell in love, according to Affleck. Though they were both with other people at the time — Garner was married to Scott Foley and Affleck was engaged to Jennifer Lopez — they formed a deep connection. Garner split with Foley in 2003, and Affleck split with Lopez in 2004.
Saying “I Do”
Affleck and Garner officially began their relationship in 2004, and the couple got married in Turks and Caicos in 2005 in as intimate a ceremony as you can have. Victor Garber, who co-starred with Garner in Alias, officiated the wedding, and he and his husband were the only guests.
Garner and Affleck had three children together during their relationship. They welcomed their first child, daughter Violet Anne, on December 1, 2005. They then welcomed their second daughter, Seraphina Rose Elizabeth, on January 6, 2009, and their son, Samuel Garner, on February 27, 2012.
Parting Ways
The couple announced their split on June 20, 2015, which was just one day after their 10-year anniversary. It took a little while to officially break up, as their divorce wasn’t finalized until April 2017. Despite their split, both Affleck and Garner are determined to co-parent and work together to be present in their children’s lives.
