Kelly Clarkson felt flustered on the set of The Rookie. The talk show host confessed to her raging crush on the show’s star, Nathan Fillion, and felt she needed to apologize for her actions.
Apologizing On National TV
Clarkson used her hit daytime talk show to apologize to the cast of The Rookie. She recalled a time when she guest starred in the police drama in 2023. Clarkson was “nervous” about being around her Hollywood crush. She admitted that she “was an idiot on that set.”
Clarkson appeared in Season 5, Episode 12, “Death Notice.” She played someone who was visiting the hospital. Her character tried to take the elevator. Every time she did, the elevator would close shut. One of the staff members tried to stop the doors from closing. But everyone ended up crammed in the tight space. Being on the show was nerve-wracking for another reason for Clarkson.
“Oh my God, I was terrified. I have to apologize to that cast and crew. I was terrified,” Clarkson explained, as quoted by Deadline. “The Rookie they invited me, and here’s the thing – I’m a huge, like, I’ve been a fan of Nathan Fillion since Castle. I already get nervous on sets, but then he made me more nervous than I have ever been on a set… I was an idiot on that set.”
Clarkson shared these secrets during a Q&A. One viewer wanted to know if she would guest star on another talk show again. Clarkson admitted that she’s not interested in appearing on shows like she did in the past. The only other show she would consider is Hulu’s Only Murders in the Building.
Yet, Clarkson still has her reservations about being involved. “But no, I’ve seen the level in which that show [operates] — I am not a walk-on, so I actually take that back. That’s never been my goal to be like, ‘Oh, I want to do all these things.’ I’m just a big fan,” the American Idol alum explained.
