After nearly seven years of marriage, the union between singer Kelly Clarkson and husband Brandon Blackstock is coming to an end.
Kelly Clarkson Files for Divorce
The news was reported by People Magazine. The inaugural American Idol winner and current coach on The Voice filed for divorce in Los Angles on June 4, according to the publication.
The couple, who were married in October of 2013, share two children—5-year-old daughter River Rose and 3-year-old Remington Alexander. Blackstock, a music manager and son of Reba McEntire, also is the dad to 14-year-old Seth, and 18-year-old Savannah from a past marriage.
The family has been holed up at their Montana ranch, social distancing and riding out the coronavirus pandemic, over the last couple of months. Clarkson has even filmed remote episodes of her talk show, The Kelly Clarkson Show, from there.
The news may come as a bit of a shock to fans who have seen Clarkson and Blackstock’s relationship blossom over the years as neither has been shy about expressing their feelings in public or on TV.

For instance, on April 24, Clarkson’s 38th birthday, Blackstock and their children made a special video for her. “Happy birthday baby. I love you more than you’ll ever know,” Blackstock said in the footage, which also featured Remy, Seth, and River.
And throughout their marriage, the singer has been very open about their romance. “This isn’t a downer to anybody I dated before him, but I’m just going to be real: I never felt like, honestly, sexually attracted to anybody before him,” Clarkson said during a 2017 SiriusXM interview. “And I’m not downing my exes, you know, everybody’s different. But there was something about him.”
The two first met in 2006 the Academy of Country Music Awards when Clarkson was rehearsing with Rascal Flatts, whose manager was Blackstock. However, it was six years later when their love story started and within 10 months of dating, he popped the question.
