When Calls the Heart will look a little younger these days. That’s because Season 12 is ushering in the next generation of Hope Valley residents. The Hallmark Channel series wants to bring in fresh and vibrant stories.

Chris McNally Teases New Cast Members

In October, Chris McNally spoke to Swooon Magazine about WCTH Season 12. He teased the fresh faces that would pop up in Hope Valley, referring to them as “fun new characters” who would bring a different vibe to the show. McNally couldn’t reveal any more details at the time.

However, he teased that the drama series would “explore some areas that we haven’t had a chance to before in terms of these new characters but expanding on maybe some of the younger characters in Hope Valley that are coming into adulthood.”

In that same interview, McNally discussed Lucas’s new love interest. He teased that “one of the new characters” will have a “fairly strong opposition to Lucas.” The two will have immediate sparks. McNally teased, “I’m not sure yet, but I don’t want to spoil anything, but I think fans will be excited to meet this new individual and get to know them and follow that journey.” That character was Edie Martel, played by Miranda MacDougall.

Who Are the New Recruits?

There are two new fresh faces to watch this season. The first is Nathan’s (Kevin McGarry) Allie (Jaeda Lily Miller), who’s growing up right before our eyes. There was a recent teaser about an old character returning. Allie is interested in this particular person.

Ray Wyatt’s (Jeremy Guilbaut) nephew Earl will be played by River Codack this season. According to Showbiz CheatSheet, the latest sneak peek shows Earl riding into town on his bicycle. He’s greeted by Opal (Ava Grace Cooper). Opal was one of the classmates who Earl and Chad (Mason McKenzie) bullied in Season 4 of WCTH.

Opal tells him, “I remember you and your brother thought it was funny to embarrass a second grader.” Earl responds, “Oh, come on, we didn’t mean it. But hey, let me apologize. Earl Wyatt is no longer a bully. But you can call me Waytt.” Earl declares he’s a changed person. However, Opal has her doubts.

Her friend Allie takes an interest in him. Earl notices her and says, “I like the pigtails.” She giggles in response. What are your thoughts on the new recruits? Are you interested in the younger generation? Let us know in the comment section.
