The Hallmark series The Way Home is headed to Netflix. This news came as a shock to its core audience, who are looking forward to Season 4. What does this mean for the hit series?

The Way Home Makes Unlikely Move

Hallmark unveiled its new Hallmark+ streaming platform last year. Their content has moved off Peacock. However, in a surprise twist, The Way Home will be available to stream on Netflix on Wednesday, October 1.

Please note that only Seasons 1 and 2 will be available to stream in October, while Season 3 will be released in February. At the time of this writing, Season 4 doesn’t have a premiere date. It could happen sometime in 2026.

The blog What’s On Netflix was the first to announce the news. Additional Hallmark content will arrive on Netflix later, which suggests that the media companies have reached an agreement. According to a previous report via Dexterto, The Way Home was initially created for Netflix. Lisa Hamilton Daly worked for the streaming giant when she developed the show.

Back in August, some fans agreed that Netflix would’ve been more suitable for the time-traveling series, which stars Andie MacDowell, Chyler Leigh, and Sadie Laflamme-Snow. “This show needs to be on Netflix for more people to find this show,” the original poster wrote on Reddit.

What Do Fans Think Of This Move?

Unsurprisingly, fans are thrilled by this news. They took to Reddit to share their reaction. “So exciting, I’m hoping more people will give it a chance on Netflix! It’s not your typical Hallmark show,” one Redditor commented.

“A surprisingly good show that I did not expect. It’s not as good as these shows, but it reminds me of how You and Unreal stood out from their original networks,” someone else wrote.

Other fans were shocked by this announcement. They assumed that Hallmark dropped the series, allowing Netflix to acquire rights.

“I was thinking this meant it had been cancelled and Netflix was picking it up, but it’s just Netflix getting second-run streaming rights,” another fan remarked.
