The doctors on Grey’s Anatomy try to separate their personal life and private life, but more times than not the two sides overlap.
In this emotional flashback video, Amelia Shepherd (Caterina Scorsone) reveals to Alex Karev (Justin Chambers) that she had a son when she was living in Los Angeles.
“I had a baby, a baby boy. I had a son. When I was living in L.A., he was born with anencephaly but without a brain, so he lived for 43 minutes. And I held him. I got to hold him. And then it was time, he donated all of his organs, and then I let him go and it almost killed me,” she revealed.
Amelia also explained this is the reason she was hesitant to have children with her then-husband Owen Hunt (Kevin McKidd). Watch the emotional moment above to see how Alex handled the situation.
