She was beloved as Abby on NCIS and now makes people laugh with her new sitcom Broke on CBS, but it’s a very serious and sad time now for actress Pauley Perrette as she lets people know she lost a very special person — her Uncle Doug.
The star shared the news on her Twitter feed, wanting to let her followers know a little bit about her personal loss and what an incredible man he truly was not just to her — but to his entire community.
“Lost my beloved Uncle Doug. He was a Fire Chief in Tennessee and one of my favorite people. A friend asked me ‘how many lives do you think he saved?’ And I said ‘thousands’. And I think of him in heaven with my mom and about his smile. And I smile. We were blessed to know him.”
Her former NCIS co-stars responded, like Lauren Holly (ex-Jenny) who wrote, “sorry P. saying a prayer. 🙏🏻” while Brian Dietzen (Jimmy) also sent a comforting message. “I’m so sorry P. He looks like a great guy. Sending prayers.”
Perrette opened a bakery in the Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood of New York City and named it after her beloved mother, Donna Bell’s Bake Shop, back in April of 2011. It’s the baby of her and two friends and they use her mother’s recipes. Her mother passed away back in 2002 and the bakery pays tribute to her Southern upbringing.
While longtime NCIS fans miss her as forensic scientist Abby Sciuto, the quirky role she played from the start of the series in 2003 until she left in 2018, the actress seems to be much happier making her new sitcom for the eye network.
“About the ‘limited series’ #BROKE Many new episodes are airing. This show restored my faith in people, in this industry. SO GRATEFUL I worked with this cast & crew. Best people I’ve EVER worked with. Healed me. Changed me. Made me whole. So Blessed. Made this for you yesterday,” she wrote alongside a video message she made for fans explaining the next episode, which is about faith. You can watch the video below.
