With Season 16 of Grey’s Anatomy premiering in just over a month, it’s no surprise that producers have been teasing what fans can expect from the upcoming season. In fact, showrunner Krista Vernoff has been open about the fact that she wants to bring back an old character for an undisclosed amount of episodes!
While there are so many amazing characters to choose from, we polled fans and asked who they’d like to see come back. Read on to see who the viewers chose as their number one pick to return to Grey’s Anatomy.
5. April and Nathan
With just 5.9% of the vote, both April (Sarah Drew) and Nathan (Martin Henderson) tied for fifth place. April and Nathan left the show during Season 14, so they’ve only been away from us for just one season.
Nathan doesn’t really have a reason to return to the show, especially since he’s happy with Megan Hunt (Abigail Spencer), but it would be nice to see April come back, even if it’s just to spend a little time with Jackson (Jesse Williams) and their daughter, Harriet.
Then 11.8% of fans said they’d like someone other than the five choices who were listed to guest star next season. This could be anyone, including Preston Burke (Isaiah Washington) or Erica Hahn (Brooke Smith).
It’s no surprise fans want to see Callie (Sara Ramirez) return, as she snagged 17.6% of the vote. It’s been a while since Callie was on Grey’s, so we’d very much like to see what she’s been up to. Plus, Ramirez is not returning to her show Madam Secretary full-time, so maybe there’s a chance she could come back.
Arizona (Jessica Capshaw) earned 23.5% of the vote. Arizona departed the show following Season 14, which really upset fans and viewers. She’s always been such a beloved character, so it was really sad to see her leave. We’d love to see her return and reconnect with her Grey Sloan Memorial friends, especially Alex (Justin Chambers).
And the number one person fans most want to see return is Cristina (Sandra Oh), who walked away with 35.3% of the vote! Cristina departed Grey’s following Season 10, and while we’d absolutely love to see the Twisted Sisters reunite, it’s a longshot. Oh is very busy working on her show, Killing Eve, but hey, never say never!
