Empire Video Flashback: Andre Apologizes To Cookie

Andre Lyon spent Season 5 of Empire dealing with his devastating cancer diagnosis, but he also spent it recovering from his time in prison. While it wasn’t easy for him to be locked away, it did give him a new perspective on what his mom went through when she was away.

In a flashback video, Andre finally apologizes to Cookie for not handling her prison sentence very well when he was a kid.

“Before I went inside, I didn’t get it either. When my friends would ask about you when you went away, I would change the subject. And eventually, I just told people you were dead. And I told myself that would be easier for them to accept. Really it was just easier for me,” he says.
