It’s hard to believe that it’s been a whole week since the 51st Annual Daytime Emmy Awards! Daytime’s biggest night had all the glitz and glamour, and Soap Hub had a front-row seat inside the ceremony at the Westin Bonaventure Hotel in downtown Los Angeles. We also hit the post-awards party! Here’s what you didn’t see on the live broadcast on CBS.
Blind and Not-So-Blind Items From The Daytime Emmy Awards
Timing is Everything: One exec’s spouse got to the awards just as the doors were closing — the executive’s mate managed to skip the hectic red carpet but missed out on pre-awards cocktails.
A Terrific Trio: Gallant Days of our Lives gentlemen Paul Telfer (Xander) and Robert Scott Wilson (Alexander) accompanied Gold Circle honoree Suzanne Rogers (Maggie) down the red carpet. (Watch for our upcoming story on how this unlikely trio came together!)
Standing Room Only: Days of our Lives guest performer nominee Dick Van Dyke (Timothy) got a standing ovation in the room before the awards even started! He received another ovation when he was announced as the winner in his category.
We’ll Always Have Pacific Palisades: After she won the Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series, The Young and the Restless star Michelle Stafford (Phyllis) went out into the audience and gave fellow nominee Finola Hughes (Anna) a huge hug. You may remember that in her speech, Stafford praised Hughes as being the best actress nominated.
A Fun Group, Indeed: Daytime Emmy winner Kelly Clarkson wasn’t wrong. The cast of General Hospital was having a great time at the ceremony. During commercial breaks, actors from the show table-hopped, snapped selfies, and caught up with their daytime pals.
Better Luck Next Time: One soap-hopping nominated player was miffed that he/she lost their award — in fairness, he/she doesn’t watch the competition, so it’s hard to say if he/she felt the award was undeserved.
Ready for His Closeup: Mike Manning’s (Caleb, The Bay) clip appeared darkened when it was shown on the ballroom monitors, along with clips of his fellow nominees in the Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series category. The good news is that when Soap Hub viewed the awards on Paramount+, the clip appeared fairly clear and much more well-lit than it appeared in the ballroom. Whew!
Salem Space: Of course, the GH cast wasn’t the only one enjoying the atmosphere. Days of our Lives star Dan Feuerriegel (EJ) was up and about during each commercial break, chatting with others in the room. Daytime Emmy nominee for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series Tamara Braun (Ava) also made sure to table hop and enjoy her time with everybody there.

There’s Always Next Year! A relative of a nominee wanted his/her loved one to win in their category as a de facto Lifetime Achievement Award; alas, this star went home empty-handed, but the supportive relative kept his/her chin up at the afterparty.
Dance With Me: Soap Hub saw Y&R’s Courtney Hope, who won Best Supporting Actress for her gut-wrenching scenes of Sally losing her baby, reconnect with her former castmates from The Bold and the Beautiful. Matthew Atkinson (Thomas) playfully danced with Hope’s gold statuette at the post-show party.
Daytime Emmys, Who Got the Gold! We spotted saw Stafford with her Daytime Emmy at the party. The actress “borrowed” a fellow winner’s award so she could pose with Thorsten Kaye (Ridge, B&B), who won Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series.
Party Girls: The GH company headed out to their own party, but first, a few of the show’s stars dropped by the post-Daytime Emmys party at the Westin Bonaventure hotel. We spotted Cynthia Watros (Nina) recreating her dancing moves from The Drew Carey Show. Tabyana Ali (Trina) was also on the scene.
Great Scott! Lifetime Achievement Award Recipients Edward J. Scott (Supervising Producer, B&B) and Melody Thomas Scott (Nikki, Y&R) were joined by old friends and family members at the post-show party.

Don’t Lose and Drive at the Daytime Emmys: One nominated producer — who lost — had a bit too much to drink at the after-party. Concerned party guests wanted to make sure the producer was surrounded by coworkers and friends so that he/she got home okay.
Live From Friday Night: Kim Matula (ex-Hope) came as a guest of ex-B&B cast mate Linsey Godfrey (ex-Caroline), nominated for her current role as Sarah on Days of our Lives. Soap Hub hears that Matula, who’s playing Jane Curtin in SNL 1975, the upcoming feature film about Saturday Night Live‘s first year, got to chat with Curtin about portraying her on the big screen.
