The Days of our Lives Recap: Justin Got A Surprise After Dumping Kayla

Kayla (Mary Beth Evans) was blindsided when Justin (Wally Kurth) stopped the wedding. She was even more blindsided when he told her why. He couldn’t marry her without telling her the truth about Steve (Stephen Nichols).

Justin gave it to her straight and threw everyone who knew the secret under the bus. Yes, Steve loved her and wanted her back. Kayla laid into Jack (Matthew Ashford) and Jennifer (Melissa Reeves). How dare they keep this from her? Oh well, it didn’t matter now. She was still going to be Justin’s wife.

Justin’s Put Kayla First

Justin called off the union. He knew Kayla loved him but she loved Steve more. Kayla’s happiness is what mattered most and he was sure her heart truly belonged to Patch.

Justin went back to the apartment to cry it out and grab his things. It was goodbye to Kayla and the wife he could have had. Before he left, he put the picture of Steve and Kayla back on the desk. Then, he went to the cemetery to mourn all of his losses at Adrienne’s grave where much to his surprise, he saw her face.

Steve Made A Run For It

Unaware of the wedding drama, Steve was set on getting out of town. There was no way he was sticking in Salem to watch Kayla move on. John (Drake Hogestyn), Marlena (Deidre Hall), and Hope (Kristen Alfonso) tried to talk him out of it but it did no good. In fact, he was planning on leaving today. He packed his bags and took off.

True Love Never Dies

Meanwhile, Kayla made a beeline for Hope’s house only to find Steve already gone. She then made a run for the airport praying to make it on time. Poor Kayla was stopped at TSA, forced to buy a ticket, and by that time the flight was already making its way into the air. All she could do was sit and cry.

Don’t worry, soap fans, Steve had the same idea. He never did board the flight and came walking through the door just as Kayla broke down. Days of our Lives (DOOL) airs weekdays on NBC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
