Days of our Lives spoilers for Friday, September 1, 2023, kick off a new month by giving Salem a new — old — chief of police, as Paulina rolls back the clock under her new administration. Will she grow to regret her choice? You won’t want to miss a minute of this dramatic episode.
Paulina (Jackée Harry) is ready to put her stamp on Salem. She’s kicked the Deputy Mayor to the curb, re-opened Chanel’s (Raven Bowens) bakery, demoted Shawn (Brandon Beemer), and offered Rafe (Galen Gering) his old job back. Rafe wasn’t sure about diving back into the breech.
There was still the matter of Abe’s (James Reynolds) rule against dating their subordinates. But Paulina announced she’d be changing that. And also that no women on her watch would be calling themselves subordinate. Even though Jada (Elia Cantu) meant it in a professional sense. So why not, Rafe?
Sitcom legend Dick Van Dyke makes his daytime debut as an elderly man unsure of who he is. We’d like to suggest some possibilities: Rob Petrie? Dr. Mark Sloan? Bert the chimney-sweep? Bye, Bye Birdie? Hey, maybe he’s yet another person who holds yet another key to John’s (Drake Hogysten) ever-changing past?
Shawn finally apologized to Belle (Martha Madison) for the way he’s been acting and even asked Marlena (Deidre Hall) for help. But talk is cheap. Shawn is finally ready to do something to prove just how sorry he is for pushing everyone away as he lazily navel-gazed.
Brady (Eric Martsolf) already got the shock of his life when he came face to face with Philip (John-Paul Lavoisier). But the hits keep on coming. There’s another surprise visitor on his doorstep. Will fists be flying a second time? Or is Brady ready to let bygones be bygones?
