Soap Hub Performer of the Week for DAYS: John Aniston

Truth be told, John Aniston is the star of every scene that he’s in – whether that’s supposed to be the case is always up for debate. Aniston’s Victor Kiriakis has been delighting DAYS fans for decades, but it’s for his recent, raucous scenes opposite an opportunistic twosome that Soap Hub gives bestows Performer of the Week honors.

John Aniston – Performer of the Week

Victor’s night got off to a terrible start thanks to tanking stock prices. He was in desperate need of some antacids – but what he got was compounded trouble in the forms of Gabi Hernandez DiMera (Camila Banus) and Jake DiMera (Brandon Barash).

The look that Aniston shot his co-stars as they barreled into Victor’s parlor all but screamed, “What the fresh hell is this,” but his alter ego kept his steely cool.

Victor registered his displeasure at the intrusion…then decided to let Gabi and Jake stay when they made it clear they were there to pitch themselves as his company’s new CEO’s – Aniston’s expression now one of bemusement.

The couple proceed to lay it all on the line, then it was Victor’s turn to respond. “I don’t give a damn about your business experience. I don’t care if you’re Steve Jobs and John D. Rockefeller reincarnated. I wouldn’t hire you.” (You can’t say that DAYS doesn’t gift Aniston with some great dialogue!)

Gabi and Jake persisted; Victor grew grumblier. But then came the big sell. Jake offered Victor DiMera Enterprises, and barring that, a seat on the conglomerate’s board; Victor agreed.

“Like shooting fish in a barrel,” he later declared. The finger guns and “pew pew” sounds that accompanied said declaration was most assuredly all John Aniston!

Honorable Mention: Lauren Koslow

Koslow’s Kate Roberts entered her conversation with Paulina Price (Jackée Harry) full of bluster and condemnation but wound up leaving contrite, and more conscious than ever of the folly of judging someone before you’ve heard their story. A really great performance lingers with us long after they exited stage left. For that Lauren earns an honorable mention this week.
