After a rocky courtship, a few breakups, and a previously canceled wedding, Xander and Sarah are slated to tie the knot, again, on Days of our Lives.
Days of our Lives Romance
Fans of the unlikely duo –- she’s a respected doctor; he’s a former henchman – are rooting hard for the couple and hoping that this time around, they actually get hitched. But, hey, it’s a soap opera wedding, so anything can happen. While DAYS viewers anxiously await Xander and Sarah’s big day, let’s take a look back at their romance.
One-Night Stand
While Xander (Paul Telfer) was pretty much smitten with Sarah (Linsey Godfrey) from the day they met, she wouldn’t give him the time of day when she resurfaced in Salem in 2018. That is, until Sarah broke up with her cheating fiancé, Rex (Kyle Lowder), turned to Eric (Greg Vaughan) for comfort, and he rejected her.
Reeling and on the rebound, Sarah hooked up with Xander for one night of passion. The next morning, it was business as usual and she rebuffed him.
Baby Daddy Drama
Sarah ultimately reconciled with Rex, despite having developed strong feelings for Eric. When Rex realized the truth, he left Sarah and Salem. Sarah, in turn, began a relationship with Eric. However, when Eric’s ex-love, Nicole, returned, Sarah set him free.
Upon discovering she was pregnant with Eric’s child, Sarah kept mum. In fact, Sarah even allowed Xander to claim he was her baby daddy. When Mickey was born, Sarah and Xander bonded as they both fell in love with the precious little girl. Little did Sarah know that Xander was keeping a whopper of a secret.

The Truth About Mickey
Wrongly believing a drunken Maggie (Suzanne Rogers) had caused the car crash that ended up claiming the life of Sarah and Eric’s real baby, Victor (John Aniston) and Xander concocted a plan to “right” everything. They forced Dr. Raynor to switch Brady (Eric Martsolf) and Kristen’s (Stacy Haiduk) healthy baby, Rachel, with Sarah’s dead one.
Sarah bonded with the little girl, totally oblivious to the fact that she wasn’t hers, and, along the way, fell in love with devoted dad, Xander. The pair planned to marry, but hours before their nuptials, Sarah learned about the baby switch. She proceeded to dump Xander in the middle of the ceremony, chastising him for what he’d done.
Hate and Healing
Once again, Sarah was back to rebuffing Xander. She couldn’t forgive his heinous baby swapping plot or the fact that he knowingly allowed her to fall in love with another woman’s child. For months Xander begged for forgiveness while trying to explain that his actions were spurred by his love for Sarah and Maggie.
In time, Sarah forgave him, and she and Xander reconciled. As their relationship intensified, the pair both found themselves at the same point: ready to wed, again. In fact, the day Xander proposed to Sarah on bended knee, she planned to do the same, presenting him with a “Will you marry me?” cake.
They both responded with a resounding, “yes,” and are looking forward to finally saying “I do.” Days of our Lives (DOOL) airs weekdays on NBC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
