On today’s Days of our Lives, Sloan Petersen rumbled Nicole’s not-so-well-kept secret, much to their mutual chagrins.
In addition, Melinda Trask (Tina Huang) tried and failed to make waves, and Jada (Elia Cantu) and Rafe (Galen Gering) got the goods on Colin (Jasper Newman), who, in turn, stepped up his revenge scheme in a major way. Now, let’s dig a little deeper into what exactly happened.
Assuming that Eric (Greg Vaughan) would take his sweet time in the shower, Sloan (Jessica Serfaty) phoned Colin and left him a message that ended with an “I love you.”
Having emerged from his aforementioned shower and unintentionally eavesdropped, Eric was interested in learning who his girlfriend was giving her love to. Sloan explained, and Eric couldn’t help but be shocked. After all, it had been ages since she last referenced her baby brother. In fact, he didn’t even know that the two were still in touch.

Sloan then bemoaned the toll that their parents’ deaths had taken on poor, sensitive Colin. The loss had really been worse for him, it changed him — not that Sloan herself wasn’t totally derailed by it, but Colin’s grief and his anger completely overtook him to such an extent that he could barely function.
Such utterances prompted Eric to float the idea that perhaps it was Colin who was going after Paulina (Jackée Harry) and Chanel (Raven Bowens), which didn’t go over too well with Sloan. She not only insisted that her brother had nothing to do with “those crimes” but that he was nowhere near Salem.
Eric apologized for his pseudo accusation, and the two made up by retiring to the nearby bed for some morning delight. The afterglow was soon interrupted by a shrill alarm emanating from Sloan’s phone — a reminder to dip into her dwindling supply of birth control pills.
Speaking of protection against pregnancy, did Eric and Nicole (Arianne Zucker) use any the night they slept together? Eric didn’t quite answer the probing question, but he did put Sloan’s mind at ease by confiding that Nicole had been diagnosed with early menopause. “That poor, old thing,” observed Sloan.
Meanwhile, Nicole began her day with a rather revealing chat with Anna (Leann Hunley), who’d come to check on her newfound buddy’s delicate condition.
Nicole groused that she was growing increasingly concerned about which man fathered her baby — Eric or EJ — when what she should be worried about was whether or not she’d be able to carry the child to term in the first place. The odds are stacked against her.
Anna found that one hard to believe in light of Holly, necessitating Nicole to explain how the little girl was conceived through IVF and birthed by Chloe (Nadia Bjorlin). “I had no idea,” revealed Anna, which Nicole found hard to believe, given how everyone in Salem seems to be aware.
Anna tried to soothe Nicole’s worry with platitudes and by pointing out the miracles of modern medicine, but all Nicole could really worry about was disappointing Eric by losing a baby that could be his.
After making clear that she’d be there for Nicole come what may, Anna set about reminding Nicole of the dos and don’ts of pregnancy, namely, no caffeine of any kind, no alcohol, and a regimen of prenatal vitamins is a must.
So, off to the hospital Nicole flew, and who should she literally bump into but Sloan Petersen? And what should Sloan Petersen do but read the prescription that Nicole had just picked up. “Prenatal vitamins?!”
Over at the rather crowded Carver abode, Paulina, Abe (James Reynolds), and Chanel unenthusiastically bid visitor Melinda Trask enter.
The D.A. had made the house call to discuss “rather delicate matters outside of City Hall,” matters like replacing Rafe as Commissioner of Police and installing PAULINA!
Melinda’s reasoning? Rafe’s abject failure to bring the mad Salem poisoner to justice…that and desire to see someone in the job who can get things done, who isn’t afraid to judiciously bend a few rules. [Paulina Price Carver to a tee!]
Abe objected most strenuously and threw his all behind Rafe. Melinda huffed and took her leave. And Paulina deadpanned, “So much for my shiny new badge.”
Speaking of Rafe…he and Jada both converged at Colin’s room at The White Dove Motel, and both were put out to see that he’d beat a hasty retreat.
Spying an unemptied trashcan — and the used razor just lying atop the other garbage — the dynamic duo made off with the contents, lifted some fingerprints and DNA, and started cross-referencing all the local databases available to them. Not a single match. Damn!
But wait! After a brief brainstorming session, Rafe and Jada decided to check Scotland Yard’s database — because Colin’s British, duh(!) — and sure enough, they got a hit.
Opposite this, Colin beseeched a clearly uneasy Talia (Aketra Sevillian) to press on with their plan for her to seduce and destroy besotted, unsuspecting Chanel.
Despite herself, Talia agreed and made a beeline for Chanel’s residence, narrowly missing Paulina and Abe, whose presence had been requested by a representative from the Health Department.
But lo and behold, it wasn’t an actual government employee but Colin with a disguised accent. Dun, dun, dun!
