On today’s Days of our Lives, EJ DiMera was chagrined to learn the exact secret his lady love was keeping.
In addition, Chanel (Raven Bowens) informed her mother that she was heading off for a date, Talia (Aketra Sevillian) lied when confronted by Jada (Elia Cantu), and Nicole ended up in a bad way. Now, let’s dig a little deeper into what exactly happened.
At the DiMera manse, EJ (Dan Feuerriegel) chanced upon a rather romantic moment transpiring between Stefan (Brandon Barash) and Gabi (Camila Banus) and registered his disgust. The couple were in a “common space” after all.
Seeing as how she had EJ’s attention, Gabi thought it would behoove them both if she were to go over his performance review. EJ, for his part, passed given that Gabi was nothing more than a “money-grubbing bottom-feeder who had no qualifications to criticize what he had for lunch let alone how he conducted himself at the office.”

Gabi pointedly pointed out that that attitude was part of EJ’s many, many weaknesses. “Your imperiousness, your arrogance. You treat your employees like they’re beneath you. It’s a real morale killer.”
And over the past three days, she’s spoken to a couple of people at the company, and they described him as “rude, temperamental, tyrannical. One guy even said he’d rather work for the father in Succession. At least that guy’s funny.” What’s more, “From what I’ve seen, your management skills are ineffective. Your bargaining tactics are counterproductive. Your interpersonal skills are an HR disaster waiting to happen. Oh, and your cologne, it’s very pungent so tone it down.”
If Gabi had to give EJ a letter grade it would be an F. Actually, she forgot that he left crumbs in the break room. F minus!
EJ groused that nobody would give a damn about Gabi’s report, but Stefan wasn’t so sure. In fact, he was fairly certain that the board would eat it up.
In response, EJ stamped his foot and declared that he’d have his girlfriend write up a damning evaluation of Stefan and then they would be even. And with that, he stormed off to get some fresh air.
Meanwhile, Eric (Greg Vaughan) greeted Sloan (Jessica Serfaty) in the town square and presented her with a rose — now that they’re an official couple, he’s stepping up his game in the romance department. Unfortunately, an SOS from a client put paid to Eric and Sloan’s planned night out on the town.
Once Sloan had taken her leave, Nicole (Arianne Zucker) — who’d witnessed the lovey-dovey interaction — made sure to engineer a run-in with Eric so she could get to the bottom of things. What exactly is going on with her ex and Sloan? After all, she distinctly remembers him saying that they were no longer seeing each other — this in spite of the fact they were both stoned out of their gourds on biscuits [Anna DiMera’s words, not ours].
Eric granted that that was the case then, but now he and Sloan are very much together. And it’s not a casual fling either. They’re giving having a real relationship a shot.
But what does that mean whined Nicole. It’s not that she doesn’t get the two are now mutually exclusive, it’s just…it’s just….no one likes her. No one who knows Eric thinks that they make sense together. Not one person in that town thinks highly of Sloan. “Not to mention she’ll probably be on her way to Statesville soon.”
Eric huffed that that isn’t the case and reiterated that Sloan was innocent of all the charges leveled against her. Nicole wasn’t so sure, but she did assure Eric that “even after everything we’ve been through, I still care about you.”
Also, she begged Eric to make sure that Sloan didn’t let slip to anyone about their drug-fueled dalliance. Opposite this, Sloan let slip to EJ that Eric and Nicole had dallied while fueled by drugs. As EJ tried to process the information, Eric approached, earning EJ’s ire.
Back at the DiMera mansion, Nicole returned with her packages and spent some time sniping at Gabi. But then to their shock, Nicole doubled over in pain.
After catching Paulina (Jackée Harry) meditating to whale song and good-naturedly giving her a hard time, Chanel revealed that she was going on a date…with Talia…the very same Talia who suggested that Paulina meditate to whale song.
Paulina was impressed — “First Allie, now Talia. You seem to have this superpower to turn straight girls into bisexuals” — and concerned. Is Chanel sure that she’s ready to start dating again? She’d only just broken up with Allie. Perhaps it’s too soon. Perhaps Chanel is still too vulnerable.
Chanel waved off Paulina’s worry, but mama bear persisted. She doesn’t want to see Chanel get her heart broken again — and Chanel does have a habit of impulsive behaviors when it comes to romance. Look at her quickie marriages and how quickly she made a house with Allie and Henry.
Chanel promised that she take things slow with Talia and that seemed to pacify Paulina somewhat. But she had one final warning to impart: “People aren’t always what they seem.”
Meanwhile, while Colin (Jasper Newman) manipulated Talia into following through on his plan to seduce and destroy Chanel, Jada bemoaned the very real possibility that her very own sister was responsible for several crimes including the felony that was drugging all those unfortunate townsfolk.
Rafe (Galen Gering) tried to alleviate her fears by pointing out the little things like lack of hard, physical proof and a motive for Talia to target Paulina and Chanel, but his efforts weren’t exactly helping.
And no sooner had he convinced Jada to take an investigate further and see approach than Jada was flat out asking Talia “Did you trash Paulina Price’s office?”
Talia swore that she didn’t, and she even had an explanation for her presence in the hardware store. She was having a key made — a key to fit the lock on Jada’s door!
Despite that, Jada’s suspicions would not abate…and Rafe was starting to come around to her way of thinking. It was just too pat. Too neat. Something was definitely amiss.
