On today’s Days of our Lives, Megan Hathaway succeeded in pulling the wool over her rivals’ eyes.
In addition, Harris Michaels (Steve Burton) earns his freedom, Brady Black (Eric Martsolf) got quite the pleasant shock at the family penthouse, and Steve (Stephen Nichols) got a lead on Kayla (Mary Beth Evans) via Little Sweetness. Now, let’s dig a little deeper into what exactly happened.
With her deal firmly in place, Megan (Miranda Wilson) readied to tell Hope (Kristian Alfonso) and Steve just who it was that absconded with Kayla…but before she named names — well, a name — Megan delighted in teasing [torturing?] the pair.
She hinted that the person was someone whom the heroes were both familiar with. “You’re very well acquainted with this man, Steve,” Megan hissed, before insisting to Hope that she knew him “even better.”
But rather than admit that Kayla’s captor was Bo (Peter Reckell), Megan swore that it was…Thomas Banks! When Hope groused that she and Megan had differing definitions of knowing someone, Megan helpfully recalled how Thomas had been poised — not too long ago — to end Hope’s life until his “pesky sister who actually happens to be a sister” showed up and ruined everything.

According to Megan, it was Thomas who went rogue and decamped the island with Steve’s wife, and what’s more, she doesn’t have any idea why.
“All I know is that that man owes me everything. He owes me his life. And it doesn’t matter to him. I gave him the perfect life. I was going to give him the perfect future. I sacrificed years, everything for him. And yet…he does what he wants, when he wants, and he doesn’t care who he hurts.”
Hope queried why this upsets her so much, and Megan, who’d, of course, been speaking of their mutual lover boy Bo, offered that she expects loyalty from her henchmen. “Unfortunately, it happens to be in short supply.”
With that, Megan wondered if they could now get her transfer to Salem’s Statesville prison underway, and Steve agreed he’d get right on that. But first, a threat to do Megan harm if he learns that he’s been lied to!
Meanwhile, Harris blanched at the thought of being released into the general public and explained to Andrew (Colton Little) that it had less to do with fears of what he might still do and more to do with things that he’s already done, namely killing Greek men in cold blood during his hunt for the prisms. “Shouldn’t I have to answer for that,” he questioned.
Andrew confided that he can relate to Harris’s internal struggle. As an ISA agent, he’s frequently been called upon to do things that he’s not comfortable doing — not that he wants to go into details. In fact, when Harris inquires whether or not he’s been made to kill someone, Andrew not so delicately sidesteps.
Still, Andrew persists in his belief that Harris was as much a victim as the men he shot and that he has a future and a lot to live for. “Including my aunt Hope.”
That led to Harris revealing he’d never measure up to Andrew’s uncle Bo, which led to Andrew granting that Hope would always hold Bo in her heart — after all, they were married for a long time, raised children together, and were crazy in love — and to Andrew pointed pointing out “sadly uncle Bo’s dead, so who are you competing with?”
Rising to leave, Andrew offered Harris a piece of hard-earned, cliché advice. Whenever you have a chance at love, take it!
Time passes. Enter Hope. She’s heartened but confused to see that Harris’s restraints have been removed. It remained for Andrew to issue the good news: Harris is free to go.
Back in Salem, Anywhere USA, Brady returned home to quite the sight: a robe-clad Marlena readying for a luxurious soak.
Wait a minute! Marlena’s dead! Must be Hattie Adams trying to get her leg over with John! With that, Brady launched into a verbal assault so boisterous that it sent John in to referee/scream at the top of his lungs that it was indeed Marlena and not her brassy, sassy lookalike standing before him.
Brady had to laugh at himself. And then he had to hug his stepmom. And then everyone laughed over the case of mistaken identity to keep from crying.
Once Brady had a chance to wrap his head around Marlena’s latest cheating of the Grim Reaper, he shared with Marlena how deeply her supposed passing had affected John, how sorry he was for what she had to endure, and happy he was to see her alive and well.
At Horton Town Square, Stephanie (Abigail Klein) couldn’t believe her good fortune. Here she’d only just been apprised of Kayla’s survival, and now she was speaking to the genuine article.
Opposite this, Kayla planted her feet and had a whole [rather pointless] convo with her daughter before finally getting around to the salient points, which were who’s got her and where — and wouldn’t you know, that’s when her reception went spotty.
The best Steph could make out was that Kayla was somewhere in Greece, but no matter how many times Kayla shouted ‘Bo” — and she shouted it A LOT — or some variant of “I’m at Victor Kiriakis’s childhood abode,” she couldn’t be heard. Funny that.
Bo eventually appeared and snatched the phone from his sister’s grasp. Kayla defiantly copped to making contact with her eldest, then hedged as to whether or not she was able to make clear that she was on Victor’s old goat farm at the “ass end of no place.”
