In the Days of our Lives recap for Friday, December 8, 2023, Leo is left reeling when his lover details the babynapping that he was unintentionally privy to.

Days of our Lives Recap Highlights

In addition, Roman met his grandson, and Tate agreed to help Holly scheme — but for a price. Now, let’s dig a little deeper into what happened.

To Tell The Truth

Having gone a grueling few hours without his lover, Leo (Greg Rikaart) visited Dimitri (Peter Porte) as soon as he was able — and he didn’t go empty-handed. Presenting Mr. Stark’s List Of Survival Tips For Surviving Prison.

Dimitri granted that his accommodations were a far cry from the Ritz, but insisted he’d learn to deal with it. But, he was very grateful for Leo’s efforts. With the pleasantries out of the way, Leo demanded clarification. What, exactly, did Dimitri mean when he said that Nicole (Arianne Zucker) and EJ’s (Dan Feuerriegel) baby was still alive?

Turned out he meant just that. After finding University Hospital swarming with cops, he’d taken the baby to Sloan’s (Jessica Serfaty) place, and she and Melinda (Tina Huang) — AKA The Ice Queen — agreed to get him medical attention. Instead, Sloan decided to keep him for herself.

“That lying illegal eagle,” decried Leo. Okay, now what? Dimitri floated the idea of Leo using the info to his advantage. Sloan will do anything to keep this truth from coming out, and he did mean ANYTHING. Leo, on the other hand, feared he wouldn’t be able to keep the secret. Not with Nicole and EJ mourning their supposed loss.

Opposite, Nicole overheard EJ discussing her with Johnny (Carson Boatman) and took great exception to the use of the word “erratic.” What was EJ trying to say? Did he think she’s gone off the deep end? Did he think she was crazy? No, no of course not. She’s grieving and he was worried about her.

After taking a breath, Nicole admitted EJ might have cause for concern. After all, one of the last times she lost their baby she did go off the rails. And, poor Sami (Alison Sweeney) paid the price. It’s possible that Nicole may have been projecting when she accused Sloan of being a babynapper.

No sooner had Nicole calmed than EJ suggested they maybe try for another child, sending her into yet another fit. It’s over for her. She thought she’d finally broken her curse, but she was wrong. So wrong. She’ll never have his child, and if he can’t accept that she doesn’t know how they move forward.

An understanding EJ soothed Nicole by pointing out that they both have children of their own and that they have each other which is all that really matters. The two parted company, and Nicole found herself opening the door to Leo. “Bad time,” he inquired.

Wiping The Slate Clean

Finally feeling a modicum of peace, what with Dimitri locked up and unable to rat out her secret (or so she thought), Sloan juggled readying for Roman’s (Josh Taylor) visit, finishing up some pressing business, and caring for Jude Roman.

Eric (Greg Vaughan) appreciated the sight. How he loved seeing her maternal side. Soon Roman was there cooing how the baby reminded him of Eric when was first born. Something about the eyes. Of course, he’s probably imagining it.

After putting the baby down, Roman made an effort to make nice with Sloan. Her long-ago disparaging of the Brady clam chowder was forgiven and forgotten. He’s just happy that she makes his son happy. (Relive the clam chowder controversy here.)

Quid Pro Quo

Meanwhile, Holly (Ashley Puzemis) remained as determined as ever to split up Johnny and Chanel (Rave Bowens). This, despite Chanel giving her free pastries as a way of saying, “Sorry for accusing you of having a crush on my beau.”

After blasting Tate (Jamie Martin Mann) for taking advantage of the opportunity to get everyone to believe they’re an item, Holly tasked him with keeping Chanel away from the “gag-iversary” dinner that she and Johnny would be planning. That way she could swoop in and (hopefully) steal Johnny right out from under her. Tate agreed, but only if she promised to go on an honest-to-goodness date with him.
