The DAYS spoilers recap for Monday, August 1, 2022, prove that Chad DiMera was wise to be a hands-off kind of parent for the majority of his children’s lives.
File this one under be careful what you wish for. Little Thomas DiMera (Cary Christopher) is sick and tired of being coddled and cooed over, and all he wants is his dad to start being there for him and to treat him like an equal.

But the minute that Chad (Billy Flynn) attempted some parenting — which consisted of shouting that Thomas’s beloved mommy is gone and that’s just the way it’s going to be — Thomas got all pouty and ran away. You can’t have it both ways, little man!
Steve Johnson (Stephen Nichols) has hit upon the perfect idea to ensure that Milo Harp, alias Orpheus (George DelHoyo), doesn’t reign Hell down upon his loved ones or anyone in Salem: murder the bastard!
John Black (Drake Hogestyn) tries to talk his best buddy round, but it’s no use. Steve’s mind is pretty much made up.
Thanks to the visit that Orpheus pays to Marlena Evans Black (Deidre Hall) — more on that in a moment — John might be swayed to Steve’s way of thinking.
Leo Stark (Greg Rikaart) was just tickled pink to see Gwen Rizczech (Emily O’Brien) out and about and out of that prison jumpsuit — even if he does still suspect that she had something to do with Abigail Deveraux DiMera’s (Marci Miller) murder.
But Gwen isn’t all bad; really, she isn’t. She’s super-duper upset about Jake DiMera’s (Brandon Barash) death. So upset, in fact, that she could barely drink that mimosa she used to toast Jake’s memory.
Orpheus had a favor to ask Marlena. It wasn’t much, just a trifle really. Would she mind terribly counseling his boy, Christain Maddoxx, AKA Evan Frears (Brock Kelly)? Turns out Orpheus shouldn’t have strong-armed Marlena into breaking him out Bayview. Evan wasn’t quite “done” yet.
What Marlena wanted to respond with was, “Eat dirt and die, you POS,” but her humanity won out, and she offered to, at the very least, recommend a good psychiatrist. This did not please Orpheus one little bit, and you’d best bet that he’s not going to let the matter rest.
In other news, the results are in, and Evan is the father of Jan Spears’s (Heather Lindell) baby. This does not please Shawn Brady (Brandon Beemer) one little bit, and you’d best bet that he’s not going to just hand Shawn Christian over to a psychopath.
You know, once you rack up all the times that Sarah Horton (Linsey Godfrey) threatened her fellow sex with sharp objects, it stands to reason that she might actually be Abigail’s killer. Luckily for Sarah, there’s never been a person — baring Evan, of course — that Marlena didn’t want to hypnotize in order to get to the unconscious truth.
