The DAYS spoilers recap for Wednesday, April 20, 2022, features a classic, drama-filled wedding ceremony, the kind that this soap has been notorious for since the 1980s. Some things never go out of style.
This will probably come as a surprise to no one, but Leo Stark (Greg Rikaart) has got a big ole secret. It turns out that he can’t lawfully wed Craig Wesley (Kevin Spirtas) because he’s already married — or hitched, or wedded, or boo’d up, take your pick.
Though a bit tardy to the surprisingly not so tacky party, Nancy Wesley (Patrika Darbo) does indeed put in an appearance at the Wesley/Cook double wedding. She’s stag as far as a date is concerned, but she’s got bestie Bonnie Lockhart Kiriakis (Judi Evans) by her side, so she’s not all that lonely…and it’s really not as awkward as Nancy initially feared.
Brady Black (Eric Martsolf) has got a big ask for officiant Justin Kiriakis (Wally Kurth) — could he stretch out the ceremony as long as humanly possible? Perhaps he could read a paragraph or two of something written by Updike? That should add at least 10 to 15 minutes to the proceedings. And if anyone would like to just stand up and say their piece, even better.
Finally, after much too much stalling, the time comes for Justin to pronounce the Wesleys’ husbands for life. Enter Chad DiMera (Billy Flynn) and one Jackie Cox AKA Darius Rose AKA the other Mr. Matthew Cooper.
The guests are aghast, the groom even more so. Leo is forced to admit that yes, he is indeed married, but he swears it’s in name only; he was just doing the Canadian ex-pat a favor. In addition, he really does love Craig. Sure, he didn’t at first — he was actually all about them Benjamins. But somewhere along the way, he fell for his mark. Unimpressed, Craig sprints down the alter and into his hotel room where he has a good, old-fashioned cry.
Assured that the fireworks were well and truly over, Xander Cook (Paul Telfer) and Gwen Rizczech (Emily O’Brien) decide to soldier on and finish their portion of the ceremony. Not so fast, says a pleased as punch Abigail Deveraux DiMera (Marci Miller)!
