In the Days of our Lives recap for September 6, 2023, Harris Michaels jumps astride his noble (and metaphorical) white steed and helps Ava out of quite the jam.
In addition, Talia received some most welcome news, EJ gave Johnny some pretty solid advice, and Tripp and Wendy FINALLY got some time alone. Now, let’s dig a little deeper into what happened.
At Bayview, a startled guard reacted to Ava (Tamara Braun) plugging her and Harris’s (Steve Burton) would-be assassin by pulling his own gun and escalating the situation.
Ava seriously considered plugging the do-gooder, insisting that he or his do-gooder cronies would ensure that she’d rot in a prison cell for defending herself. Harris managed to talk his good buddy into handing over the gun…which he then used to put the fear of God into the guard and aid in his and Ava’s escape into the night.

After getting their run on, the (not so) dynamic duo took a moment to pause and reflect. That naughty nurse might still have friends at Bayview ready to pounce, so there’s no way they can go back there. And seeing as how Ava is sure as sure can be that EJ (Dan Feuerriegel) is behind the order to have her killed (CORRECT!), the two agree that keeping out of sight, for the time being, is their best option. So, it’s off to the no-tell, motel on the outskirts of Salem.
Meanwhile, Rafe (Galen Gering) and Jada’s (Elia Cantu) canoodling session in his office was brought to a screeching halt by the news of what went down at Bayview. The officers were soon on the scene, and it didn’t take them (too) long to figure out the grievously injured “victim” might not be so innocent after all.
Kayla (Mary Beth Evans), for her part, wondered if she should phone Room 304 at the Salem Inn and alert Tripp (Lucas Adams) — who’d entrusted her with his phone — to the goings on with his mother. In the end, she decided it could wait for the morning. And Tripp and Wendy (Victoria Grace), who finally got to get it on, would probably thank her for that.
With nothing to do but kill time while he waited for his goon to kill Ava, EJ sat around and listened to Johnny (Carson Boatman) go on and on about how he still pines for Chanel (Raven Bowens) but decided to bow out of fighting for her hand. To quote EJ, “That was stupid.”
Momentarily taken aback, Johnny couldn’t believe that EJ was suddenly pro-Chanel, so Papa had to admit that the new and improved version of Chanel really impressed him. She’s also WAY better than Johnny’s other *eh um* lady friend (Ava, anyone), so that’s something.
Though she might not have been as good a bowler as her date, Talia (Aketra Sevillian) was just heartened that Chanel was giving her the time of night. The fact that the date was going so well was a bonus.
No sooner had the two begun smooching than Kayla called and requested Talia’s presence at the hospital. Despite moping that her application had probably been outright rejected by the hospital board, Talia delighted in hearing that she would actually be joining the staff — on a provisional basis. What’s more, she can start tomorrow!
Talia raced back to Chanel’s apartment only to find Johnny standing in the living room. Having just admitted to Chanel that he was still in love with her, Johnny bid the ladies adieu and headed out the door.
