Eric talks to Nicole’s armed assailant into letting her go. Rafe Hernandez (Galen Gering) finds Eric and Nicole together and suspects the worst… The gunman corners Jake and Ava as they exit a jewelry store; he demands Ava’s newly purchased engagement ring. When Jake puts up a fight, he’s shot at point-blank range.

Later, Sonny finds his older brother, Alexander Neil Kiriakis II (Robert Scott Wilson), has returned to town.
Jada and Rafe arrive on the scene of Jake’s shooting. When the gunman makes a move to fire at Ava, Jada shoots him dead. Jake is rushed to University Hospital where he’s pronounced deceased.

Kate Roberts (Lauren Koslow) put Gabi on notice – EJ DiMera (Dan Feuerriegel) is gunning for her. Word of Jake’s death reaches the women. Gabi races to the hospital and learns that Ava and Jake were engaged, and ponders the might-be’s should the two have actually married.
Chanel Dupree (Raven Bowens) debates whether to choose Allie Horton (Lindsay Arnold) or Johnny DiMera (Carson Boatman)… Chad DiMera (Billy Flynn) relents and gives up his shares in DiMera Enterprises to EJ; he’s unprepared for EJ’s demand that he move out of the family manse. Cooler heads prevail, and EJ asks Chad to stay, but Chad decides that it’s better for him if he goes.
Chad foists himself and his children upon Jack Deveraux (Matthew Ashford) and Jennifer Rose Horton Deveraux (Cady McClain). Sonny offers the trio lodging at Chez Kiriakis. Chad advises Sonny not to work with his brother.
