Paulina Price Carver really wants her new husband, Abe Carver, to run for governor on Days of our Lives. She wanted it even before the current governor succumbed to blackmail and pardoned despicable criminals like Orpheus, his son Christian ‘Evan’ Madox, and Kristen DiMera.

Paulina (Jackée Harry) is mostly interested in living in the governor’s mansion and hosting fancy parties — not in Abe’s (James Reynolds) views on climate change, education policy, bail reform, or abortion rights.
A Salem Mystery
The fans feel the same way. We’re sure that Abe’s political views align with ours exactly…which is why it’s better if he never offers an opinion on anything. But we are most excited to watch him run for Governor of his state because maybe then we’ll finally find out what state Salem is in…hmm.
Days of our Lives: What We Know So Far
Sure, we’ve gotten clues over the years about where exactly Salem might be located. First and foremost, we know it’s in the Midwest, somewhere wholesome and far away from sinful big cities like New York or Los Angeles. We know it snows in the winter and is warm enough to go swimming in the summer.
We know it’s got a waterfront big enough for the many Fancy Face (sorry, Living in Cin) yachts to dock and deep enough that a body like Jan Spears’s (Heather Lindell) can disappear beneath the waves.

DOOL: We Got It!
Chicago. It’s got to be Chicago, right? Chicago checks all the boxes. Except that Chicago is a city of 2.699 million people. And Salem is a city of…35, tops?
It’s got to be Chicago adjacent. At least somewhere in Illinois, give us that! And if Abe runs for governor, he’ll have to have the state on his campaign posters. And we’ll finally have the answer to DAYS’ biggest question ever!
