Days of Our Lives’ Rachel had Brady and Kristen pulling the hair out of their heads, trying to find her. The little runaway found her way to an old house in Aremid. It turned out to be her mom’s childhood home and there she met a strange Lady who went by the name Woman in White. Some weird, mysterious things happened while Rachel was there and we’re going to try to break them down.
Odds Are, She’s Not Professor Plumb
Rachel (Finley Rose Slater) found the house because she swiped Kristen’s (Stacy Haiduk) scrapbook chronicling her and her brother Peter’s upbringing. There, she met the enigmatic Woman in White (Roslyn Gentle) and told the lady about how Ava (Tamara Braun) was ruining her mom and dad Brady’s (Eric Martsolf) relationship. The Woman did what any good person Salemite would do and helped Rachel smack Ava over the head with a candlestick. Later, Brady and Kristen found Rachel, but the Woman (and Ava) was nowhere to be seen.

So, who is this lady who’s teaching Rachel the finer points of violence? Most people assume she’s Kristen’s mom, Rachel Blake, back from the dead. But that’s too easy, and besides, if she did survive the explosion with Stefano, she might have scars on her face. At first, it seemed like she was a figment of Rachel’s imagination. She knocked Ava out, only thinking the Woman was holding the candlestick with her (kind of reminds us of the game Clue). But Rachel’s not strong enough to move Ava, and we saw the Woman wheeling a bound Ava away at the end of Monday’s episode.

She’s Otherworldly
It’s very possible that the Woman is a supernatural being. Perhaps the spirit of Rachel Blake. That would explain why she said, “That was even easier than I thought!” when she helped Rachel hit Ava. If she were a ghost, maybe she would have trouble grasping solid objects unless a human, like Rachel, helped her. She surprised even herself with that feat.

Another possible explanation is that she’s Rachel Blake, who perhaps has something wrong with her mind because of the explosion. Or, she’s an escaped mental patient who heard the tale of the Woman in White and adopted it as her way of living. She’s been hiding out in the house, just waiting to exact revenge on phantoms of the past that never existed for her in the first place. Considering Aremid backward is DiMera, anything could be possible in the little burgh not too far from Salem.
