She started with butterflies on her foot, which she got at 18, then moved to the tattoo she seemed least eager to revisit. “I’m actually a little embarrassed to show this tattoo,” she admitted before revealing the large flaming chili pepper on the back of her neck.
That one came from wanting a version of her mother’s own chili pepper tattoo, only with a little more attitude. “Because I’m spicy. And my mama is spicy,” Stowers explained. She also went through what she called her star phase, including several stars placed in spots she thought looked especially cool at the time.
