The Monday, March 25 episode of Days of Our Lives accomplished a couple of things: Theresa’s jealousy kicked in after she saw Alex and Kristen kissing. The major accomplishment: Marlena, Steve, Maggie, and even Konstantin talked John out of flying to Greece to turn himself in for killing Konstantin’s daughter, something he allegedly did as The Pawn. Maybe John should rethink his decision.
John Black (Drake Hogestyn) continued to angst and punish himself for killing Konstantin’s daughter. He headed to Maggie’s to tell Victor’s “friend” that he knows he can never forgive John. As it was, John could never forgive himself. He could go to Greece and turn himself into the authorities. The police in Aria would have to kickstart an investigation and they would find out what would happen once and for all. For John, there was no other option. It was this or nothing. (Check out our Weekly DAYS Spoilers here)
Meanwhile, Maggie (Suzanne Rogers) finally learned the whole entirety of the details regarding the death of Konstantin’s daughter. The man left out a lot when he told her, after all. She became emotional when she thought Victor (John Aniston) had something to do with this. She knew it was possible for him to do it but she had difficulty lining up the man from back in the day with the man she married. But she knew that Victor would never have sanctioned the death of somebody’s daughter.
Marlena (Deidre Hall) and Steve (Stephen Nichols — who talks about a moment he shared with Mary Beth Evans here) tried to be John’s rock throughout this exchange. At the same time, they really didn’t want him to get on a plane to Greece. Not for a crime that may not have happened. And if it did happen, was beyond his control, especially since he had no choice in the matter due to the mind-control of it all.
Finally, Konstantin (John Kapelos), out of the goodness of the heart, sounded like a changed man. Suddenly, he let all of the pain and his need for revenge over his daughter’s death go. Yes, just like that he decided to let go of his hatred. He had incentive to do this — he’d found a better life with much more to offer (AKA Maggie). He lamented the fact he challenged Victor’s rule. That reckless behavior he exhibited decades ago? He was to blame for losing his daughter. It was all so clear now.
After the accomplishments and epiphanies and forgiveness, Maggie questioned Konstantin. She mentally started to poke holes in his story. Seemed like she was on to Konstantin from Aria, Greece. He claimed to be Victor’s friend when he first came to town, but that wasn’t true. He tried to cover for that lie but didn’t do a good job.
Because Maggie may be on to Konstantin, John (who’s been a man in crisis as of late), Marlena, and Steve may not have much time. When John said he wanted to hop on a plane to Greece and turn himself in to authorities, Konstantin became generous and decided to let everything go. Sure, he wanted to bilk Maggie of her fortune and that whole plan he had going on with Theresa.
But what if he doesn’t want John and everyone to find out what really happened that allegedly fateful night? What if he was the one who accidentally caused his daughter’s death or someone else did? What if he’s trying to run a con of all Kons?
So, do you know what John, Marlena, and Steve must do right after Jude’s christening? Go to Greece. Get on the first plane, train, and then automobile that gets them to Aria. They need to dig deep and discover the definitive story of that night. And then see how Konstantin reacts. They’ll have to be careful because the man knows how to turn John into The Pawn. But this could be a way to get this conman out of Salem for good.
