The Los Angeles wildfires still rage on, although thankfully, as of this writing, the wind has subsided, and fire workers are making progress. Many people, including soap stars, lost their homes, and the devastation is simply catastrophic. However, the good citizens of Los Angeles came together in their fellow denizens’ hour of need to offer support and help. Days of Our Lives star Linsey Godfrey had a lot of praise for the people for banding together during one of the darkest times in the city’s history.

She’s One of the Lucky Ones

Godfrey, who plays Sarah on DAYS, explained to Soap Opera Digest that she was blown away by the number of people donating money, items, or time to help their fellow Los Angelenos. “It shows humanity at its finest,” she praised after noting a TikTok user has offered to check on peoples’ homes and let them know the status.

She feels lucky that her family’s house was spared, and they’ve been able to go through their stuff to find things to donate. She expressed what she loves most about LA, remarking that neighbors don’t communicate with each other unless a tragedy strikes, “Then you have people doing amazing things for each other. It’s phenomenal.”

It Was Heartbreaking

Another thing she truly loves about LA is the fact that many donation centers are at capacity, meaning they can’t take on any more donations. The same goes for bodies needed to pitch in because more than enough citizens are already helping out. She further remarked that many people don’t have the money to rebuild their homes because they used up their savings just to get and maintain them. “Except now you have nothing. It just kills me,” she sadly stated.

Godfrey also lamented the people she knows who were victims of the fire: “I know Sal Stowers [ex-Lani] lost a family home; I think it was her aunt’s. Emily O’Brien [Gwen] has a friend who lost everything. My child has a friend whose aunt lost everything,” she explained, admitting, “It is just so heartbreaking.” (Check out what Godfrey and her on-screen husband Paul Telfer (Xander) said about their characters’ dynamic.)
