On the Thursday, May 16 episode of Days of Our Lives, Maggie calmed John and Marlena’s fears by letting them know about her genius plan to take Konstantin down. Meanwhile, Alex better watch his step because he’s not taking an interest in Titan’s finances, and that could end up being his undoing.
After running into Alex (Robert Scott Wilson) sauntering around the town square with Theresa (Emily O’Brien), Maggie (Suzanne Rogers) scolded him for not being present during Titan’s important meetings. He brushed it off, saying his VP was taking care of things, so she unhappily walked away. She went to John (Drake Hogestyn) and Marlena’s (Deidre Hall), who were concerned that her redistributing Victor’s (John Aniston) fortune to the family would prompt Konstantin (John Kapelos) to somehow take advantage. John said they needed to get Konstantin to commit a crime so they could catch him in the act and get rid of him. John is the type that likes to have his hands on a situation, and was clearly unprepared for what Maggie was going to say next.
She apprised them about her deliciously devious plan to make it look like Konstantin was embezzling money from Titan, considering Alex wasn’t actively minding the store. She explained that she opened an account in the Greek’s name and was ready to move forward with her plan, much to John and Marlena’s delight and allaying their fears. It was nice to see Marlena later remind John about what a good, decent, and caring guy he is, and we’re loving that this long-time couple isn’t dealing with typical soap marital issues but working together as a solid unit.
Maggie had left Konstantin with Alex and Theresa in the square, and the two men started getting into it. Alex, on his high horse for owning half of the Kiriakis mansion and Victor’s estate, warned Konstantin not to get too comfortable in the mansion. Clearly, inheriting Victor’s money has gone to Alex’s head, which is leaving him wide open for Maggie’s plan to come to fruition. When Alex stepped away, Konstantin wasted no time in demanding that Theresa continue her mission to get Alex’s money…or else.
Later, while Konstantin was sitting on a park bench muttering to himself about Alex’s insolence, Maggie came upon him and asked for a favor: she wanted to put him in charge of distributing funds to the causes that meant the most to Victor. He jumped at the chance, saying it would be his honor to do that for her and Victor and thanked her for entrusting him with such a noble venture. Obviously, the greedy Greek is going to siphon off as much of Titan’s money as he could once he gains access, and Maggie will have him right where she wants him. As an added bonus, Alex may end up taking the fall, as it will have happened under his watch.
At the end, Alex showed his true colors as a womanizer when Theresa got up after they danced between the sheets, and he called Kristen (Stacey Haiduk) to say he’d get together with her soon. He’s such a cad, and when the truth eventually comes out that Xander is the true heir to Victor’s fortune, Alex is going to go from eating caviar and champagne to subsisting on a lot of humble pie.
