Ever since Days of Our Lives co-executive producer Albert Alarr was let go in 2023, the show has been undergoing changes. In July 2024, Ron Carlivati—who had been the show’s head writer for seven years—exited the show. As a result, Paula Cwikly and Jeanne Marie Ford became the new headwriters. Recently, executive producer Ken Corday hinted at what’s ahead for the beloved soap.
The Days of Change Are Coming
Thankfully, fans don’t need to worry whether DAYS will get canceled. The show has been renewed for a 62nd season. And executive producer Ken Corday told TV Insider that it’s doing great on the Peacock streaming app after moving over from the NBC broadcast network in 2022. “We continually test consistently in the Top 10 of Peacock’s shows, which shows that our viewers didn’t totally stray,” he said, adding, “When we migrated, almost half of them stuck with us, and it’s a delightful surprise that the show thrives on a new platform.”
Having firmly solidified its place on the streaming service and the change in writers, Corday remarked that the show needed a facelift. At least in terms of its look and approach to stories. He also praised Carlivati, explaining, “Our previous head writer had a wonderful, long run, but change is a constant, and sometimes change is called for, and this was a case where it was clear to me it was.”

The Change Will Be Rewarding
As most fans know, DAYS shoots months in advance of airdate. So, any major changes won’t be seen until 2025. Corday explained that next summer, there will be some “powerful moments.” He also said that the cast has a positive outlook on things, which he regards as a good litmus test alongside the audience’s opinions. “Everyone’s very excited about what we’re doing and where the show is going,” he noted.
Plus, he promised a good payoff for the viewers. In addition to the death of Bill Hayes, whose character Doug will be honored on the show, there will also be a tribute to Drake Hogestyn and his alter ego, John Black. Beyond that, “We are in for some great surprises by mid-2025. The stories will be wonderful, and there will be many returns of familiar faces we’ve known or come to love in the past,” he happily explained. (Find out how Hogestyn will be honored on the show.)
