EJ has gotten under everyone’s skin on Days of Our Lives. His wicked schemes prompted Leo to write a hit piece on him for The Spectator, which caused Amy Choi to reconsider allowing Chanel and EJ’s son Johnny to adopt her grandchild. Needless to say, the young couple wasn’t happy that it seemed to have squashed the adoption, and Chanel let EJ have a piece of her mind. Her portrayer, Raven Bowens, opened up about how her character can stand up to the ruthless manipulator.
Her Bark Has Bite
Bowens told Soap Opera Digest that she enjoys working with EJ’s portrayer, Dan Feuerriegel, especially when Chanel gets to tear him a new one. “It’s so funny because our height difference is so massive,” she remarked, implying that Feuerriegel towers over her. “I really feel like this little Chihuahua barking at him.”
She finds such confrontations amusing because she often hilariously thinks to herself that he could easily crush her with only his pinky finger. But it’s always Chanel who’s brave enough to confront the DiMera despite his considerable power. “ I love that Chanel isn’t afraid of EJ. She stands up to him and speaks her mind quite often,” she remarked.

She Wants To Scare Him
Explaining that she can be self-conscious about being vertically challenged, Bowens also noted that she sometimes feels her voice doesn’t help her come across as intimidating. She stated, “When I get emotional, my voice goes up. It goes high, and it gets thinner, and that’s not power.” But to stand up to a character like EJ, “You want to be as powerful as you can be, so it [doesn’t look] comical.”

She loves it when Feuerriegel responds as if EJ is intimidated no matter how high her voice gets and really sells it. When that happens, she proudly thinks to herself, “Yeah. I scared him,” adding, “That’s all I want, is to scare Dan [laughs].”
