Elia Cantu is opening up about her beloved companion of 12 years.
Grief is the price we pay for love. That’s what Days of our Lives actress Elia Cantu, who plays Jada Hunter, is realizing now as she is sharing news of her late dog, Danny, crossing over the Rainbow Bridge.
“This pain is unreal,” Cantu posted on Instagram along with emojis for a broken heart and tears. “I’m still trying to process it all. Danny got his angel wings & took his trip to heaven on 4/4/24.
“I love and miss you so much Danny!” she continued. The actress and loving dog mom brought Danny to the beach recently for a final special day by the sea. “This moment at the beach last week together will forever be one of my cherished memories,” she shares. “It was a beautiful day. Thank you for 12 years of unconditional love!
“The grief is coming in [waves],” Cantu adds. Support is also coming in waves for Cantu and Danny. Julie Dove, who recurs as Connie and also went through a similar loss, wrote, “All my love to you. I’m so sorry for the loss of Danny.” Added Sal Stowers (ex-Lani): “I’m so sorry Elia, sending you so much love. Big big hug.”
“I’m so sorry,” posted Linsey Godfrey (Sarah). “Sending you such a big hug.”
Cantu revealed in an earlier post that Danny — not unlike many soap characters — had another name. “Every day with this sweetheart is a blessing. My Danny boy aka Falkor,” she wrote. Falkor is the name of the dragon hero in The NeverEnding Story. Soap Hub sends Elia Cantu the deep condolences at this difficult time.
