This summer, Days of our Lives’ Jackée Harry filmed a role in the Freeform pilot, Everything’s Trash, starring, written by, and produced by Phoebe Robinson, star of the comedy podcast and subsequent HBO special, 2 Dope Queens.
Harry’s role was said at the time to be a recurring one, joining fellow veteran actor George Wallace as the lead character’s parents. Freeform officially picked up the show this week, and Harry was happy to report the news on her Twitter account.
“Back in May, I filmed a pilot with the hilarious [Phoebe Robinson] for [Freeform] and I’m so excited that everyone will get to see the genius of this woman on their screens soon,” the actress wrote. “Congrats on the series order…You deserve it.”
The show is based on Robinson’s book, “Everything’s Trash But It’s Okay,” and follows Phoebe, a 30-something podcast star navigating her muddled life. When younger brother Jayden emerges as a leading politician, Phoebe is forced to grow up and get a grasp of adulthood with advice from her close-knit family and friends.
Interestingly, Harry didn’t say anything about her being part of the show going forward in her Tweet. It’s not unusual for a show to change out some actors from a pilot, but it would seem hard to believe that Freeform wouldn’t want an Emmy-winning comedy vet like Harry along for the ride. Here’s hoping to see her in as many episodes as possible.
As Paulina on DAYS, the actress has shown that she still has the same charisma and comedy chops that won her that gold on the classic, 227. A recurring role would let Harry appear on the primetime show and probably not impact her DAYS run too much, if at all.
Speaking of DAYS, after some confusion about what pie Paulina likes—it’s Florida lime pie!—Abe proposed this week and the couple started preparing for a happy future together. But will Paulina’s secrets or Jackée Harry’s possible commitment to her new show stand in the way? Stay tuned!
