While Johnny and Chanel dealt with the fallout from her miscarriage, there may be good news for him on the July 2 episode of Days of Our Lives. Kate and Abe decided to embark on a new business venture that’s totally metaphysical and may represent hope for Johnny.
Kate (Lauren Koslow) and Abe (James Reynolds) agreed to work on a business together. After mulling some ideas, Kate came up with the concept of creating a TV show, and Abe went one step further, explaining that Body and Soul was his favorite and he wanted to make a soap opera. Kate did mention that his time being held prisoner by Nurse Whitley (Kim Coles) may have affected his thinking, but he understood the creativity that goes into making a soap. He even felt that one of the characters looked like Kate. (Learn more about what Nurse Whitley did to Abe.)
Of course, we’re getting super meta here because when he was watching that show when he’d lost his memory, the main actresses from DAYS did double duty as some of the characters on B&S. Abe did have to admit that most soaps are now made in Los Angeles. Kate later read that B&S was getting canceled, but the characters are inspired to make something entertaining, and it may also help someone close to them.
Johnny (Carson Boatman) and Chanel (Raven Bowens) got the (somewhat) good news that it wasn’t Paulina’s (Jackée Harry) radiation that caused her to miscarry. The fetus wasn’t viable from the get-go. But the loss of the baby put the kibosh on their plans to move to LA, and Johnny found out that he’d been replaced on the film he was supposed to start working on there. However, there’s a silver lining around everything, as Abe and Kate’s plan may benefit Johnny.
Kate explained that she had money and contacts to finance a TV show, and both she and Abe didn’t want to move to LA. Johnny needed a job, so getting him on board as the series director would be perfect for him. Things already got a bit surreal as Abe and Kate felt their lives were like a soap opera, so they’re taking things to the next level. Just having a show like B&S exist in the DAYS universe is okay, but having the characters actually create a soap opera brings the whole concept up a notch, and we’re excited to see how this new venture plays out!
