Fans still talk about Days of our Lives in the 1980s and the supercouples that made every day must-see-TV. We asked over 7,000 viewers to name their favorites, and the results were unexpected, to say the least!
It wasn’t even close as 77% of the audience went with Hope (Kristian Alfonso) and Bo (Peter Reckell). They may not have been the first, but to a majority of you, they will always be the best.
Far, far behind, with 8% of the vote are Steve (Stephen Nichols) and Kayla (Mary Beth Evans). They met when he was just a thug, and she was an upstanding nurse. Now she’s a doctor and he’s a hero. But they’re still hot!
Marlena (Deidre Hall) first fell in love with John (Drake Hogestyn) when she thought he was her other supercouple pairing, Roman. The truth eventually came out. And once both got over being dead, they became the 7% favorites.
About half of the above, over 3% still remember Shane (Charles Shaughnessy) and Kim (Patricia Pease). They suffered even more than most Salem couples but eventually found their way back to each other. And somehow managed to raise a daughter like Theresa (Jen Lilley).
Yeah, about Marlena and Roman (then-Wayne Northrup, now Josh Taylor), almost 3% are waving their hands to be noticed. That’s the Marlena pairing we first fell in love with, and that’s the one we still miss. John, Shmon. Did he ever fall off a cliff… and live to tell about it?
Justin (Wally Kurth) and Adrienne (Judi Evans) were around in the 1980s, too, a little over 2% would like to point out. Sure, she’s dead now. But so are a lot of the others. How about some love their way? Days of our Lives (DOOL) airs weekdays on NBC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
