Days of Our Lives Executive Producer Ken Corday has been with the show since the beginning — his parents having co-created the NBC soap. So after seeing every kind of storyline imaginable run through Salem, does he have a favorite?
After almost 54 years on the air, the DAYS’ executive producer has revealed that he indeed has a favorite — and he made actress Deidre Hall’s day. The legendary star shared a link to the article on Instagram where her boss revealed it, saying, “Ken Corday says Marlena’s possession is his favorite storyline?! I couldn’t agree more!!”
Corday did an interview on Today Extra, which was covered by The Daily Mail, in which he made the reveal but added that at the time he never thought the story would work. “The writer called me and said this is what we are going to do. And I said ‘you’re mad, that will never work!'”
That writer was, of course, James E. Reilly and while he said he’d try it for a few weeks, as fans will attest, that story lasted far longer and mesmerized millions as it played out.
Corday went on to say that it started in October of 1995 and was meant to finish around Christmas but instead it lasted until Easter because it was so popular and the fans wanted more and more.
The story tied in John Black (Drake Hogestyn), who was going through his priest phase at the time and needed to do an exorcism, and it also involved Kristen DiMera (then played by Eileen Davidson, now played by Stacy Haiduk) as well as her infamous father, Stefano (the late Joe Mascolo). Days of our Lives (DOOL) airs weekdays on NBC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
