Days of our Lives fans are probably glad that town pariah — and Allie’s rapist! — Charlie Dale is gone from Salem, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t rooting for his portrayer, Mike Manning.
Mike Manning Cast In Indie Drama
In fact, the actor has a big social media following and is beloved for some of his other roles, including the Disney Channel original movie Cloud 9, and appearances on Teen Wolf and The Call.
Now, Manning has another exciting project ahead, as he was recently cast in The Way Out, an indie drama being written and directed by Barry Jay, the founder of the popular Barry’s Gym franchise. The news was revealed by Deadline, alongside other cast members confirmed for the movie, including Sherri Shepherd, Jonny Beauchamp, and Riverdale’s Ashleigh Murray.
The movie follows Alex Romero (Beauchamp), a struggling addict who follows unconventional advice from manipulative boxer Shane Collins, played by Manning. As Shane takes Alex under his wing and teaches him fighting techniques, Alex confronts demons from his past while finally taking control of his own life.
Manning confirmed the news on his Instagram account, linking to the Deadline article. “Manipulative boxer Shane Collins,” he wrote, adding a boxing glove emoji. “Excited to work w/ this talented team. Ok, now back to training.”
And while DAYS’ Ava may not have been too fond of her son, her portrayer Tamara Braun certainly loved working with Manning and sent along her congrats on his new role. “Yes! Yes! Yes!!! That’s my son! 😂congrats,” Braun responded to his Instagram post.
Manning will also serve as executive producer on the film. That’s nothing new for the former reality star of The Real World: D.C., as Manning is also a producer of The Bay, for which he won the 2020 Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Digital Daytime Drama Series. Days of our Lives (DOOL) airs weekdays on NBC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
