On Days of our Lives, playing a baddie is not easy but Mike Manning has pulled it off. From his less than explosive debut as Charlie to his bombshell reveal as a rapist, he has given DOOL all he has and it shows.

Mike Manning – DAYS Performer Of The Week

Charlie showed up in Salem mere months ago. Everyone was looking forward to a hot and heavy partner for Claire (Isabel Durant) and the couple was cute for a while. His geeky demeanor stole hearts, well, until the real Charlie came out.

The horrifying reveal that Claire’s new beau was her cousin’s rapist shook up the London attack storyline in a big way. No longer was Tripp (Lucas Adams) a prime suspect, or an only child. Tripp had a brother and he was as bad as they come.

And boy, was Charlie bad. In a few short months we learned about the rape, the plot to destroy Tripp’s life, he kidnapped Ava (Tamara Braun), and nearly attacked Claire. It was a lot for a newcomer. Manning did not miss a beat, though. He delivered with his portrayal of the crazed, obsessed, evil, and devious Charlie.

A Fast and Furious End

Charlie’s swan song came fast and furious this week. He went off the rails and faced death threat after death threat with every encounter around town. There was not one person he came across who did not want him dead. It came as no surprise he became the town’s newest murder victim.

Charlie’s time in Salem will not be forgotten, especially with baby Henry left behind. There will always be a special (or, um, not-so-special) connection between the father and son. It will be interesting to see what kind of man Henry will grow up to be.

Manning was not on the show for a long time, but it was a good time. He became a baddie fans loved to hate. He commanded every scene, perfectly delivered every line, and kept fans on their toes while they waited to see how low this Charlie character would go.

We wish Manning the best as he moves forward in his career and looks forward to seeing him on the big and small screens. Days of our Lives airs weekdays on NBC. Check your local listing for air times.
