Let’s cut Sonny some slack on Days Of Our Lives (DOOL). The poor guy has had it rough.
First, Will (Chandler Massey) cheated on him. Sonny (Freddie Smith) went away to clear his head and Will “died.”
Sonny fell in love again with old flame, Paul (Sean Christopher), they were about to exchange wedding vows… and then Will was alive again!
Except he didn’t remember Sonny. And, honestly, he preferred Paul. So, Sonny was heartbroken.
No wonder he was vulnerable to Vivian’s (Louise Sorel) machinations, setting Sonny up with Leo (Greg Rikaart), then getting Leo secretly hired as Sonny’s assistant.
Now Victor (John Aniston) has fired Sonny over his bad judgment, but how do you feel about this gullible Sonny? Here’s the view from over 7,000 of you!
Smart Is As Smart Does
Sonny is no fool, 84% of the audience fumes, and you don’t appreciate seeing him portrayed that way.
Sonny has always been a good judge of people, so no matter how burned he may have been by Will’s rejection, he still should have been able to see through Leo’s scam.
And, even if he did fall for it, Sonny should have come up with something clever to get out of it, and keep Victor from canning him.
Everybody Makes Mistakes
Sonny is no more of a fool than anyone else in Salem, 16% of you counter. Absolutely everyone named Horton or Brady or Johnson or DiMera has been a fool for love at one time or another.
This doesn’t mean Sonny isn’t any worse and, for the record, he’s no fool, either. He took a risk and opened his heart. That’s a good thing. It makes him strong and brave. Besides, you’re pretty sure he’ll still find a way out of this and return to being the in-control Sonny you know and love.
