Days of Our Lives’ Sarah is trying to adjust to a new normal after returning the baby she thought was hers to her true birth mother, Kristen. Off-screen, Sarah’s portrayer, Linsey Godfrey, also is facing a new reality — an expanded role as teacher to her daughter, Aleda.
As Godfrey is self-quarantining, she’s acting as a primary teacher to Aleda, who is soon turning 6-years-old. The Emmy-nominee is also adjusting to not working during this time. How is she managing? “I’m actually okay,” Godfrey tells Soap Hub. “I feel for the people who are very much extroverted. I actually suffer from a little bit of agoraphobia. [Home] is my safe space. I do miss working and I miss seeing people.”
A former Mommy and Me class instructor, Godfrey is leaning in nicely to her new role as teacher. “Bless all the parents of kids of any age who have stepped up and are helping with teaching,” she says. “I can’t believe I’m teaching Ledy how to read and how to do addition and subtraction. It’s a lot of hands-on activity!”
The Days of Our Lives star says that Aleda’s regular teacher and her school have been so accommodating. “I have a good idea [of what to do], but it doesn’t make it any less stressful,” she says.
What she does have a handle on is being transparent with what’s going on in the world, explaining to her daughter why she isn’t at her school with her friends, and what people are staying at home.
“I function under complete honesty and zero transparency,” Linsey Godfrey says. “I put things delicately to her, but we’re very honest with Ledy about what’s going on in the world. We talk about COVID-19 and when Greg Rikaart (ex-Leo; Kevin, The Young and the Restless) got sick. I make it as safe as possible and answer any questions she may have.” Days of Our Lives airs weekdays on NBC. Check local listings for air times.
