Soap stars are among the millions of people currently out of work due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Melissa Claire Egan of The Young and the Restless has been missing work and thinking about this a lot and it seems to have crept into her subconscious.
Melissa Claire Egan: Itching To Be Chelsea The Right Way
She recently tweeted that she had a dream that she was asked back to work, but it didn’t go as expected.
“I had a dream last night that we went back to work at Y&R(yay!), and the writers decided to put me on the debate team,” she wrote. “So it was pages and pages and pages of non-stop talking and debating and hence even more lines to memorize. Wonder what this means in the dream dictionary.”
While Chelsea Lawson may like to talk on The Young and the Restless, she’s never had any monumental monologues—even during her con-artist days! And while the actress certainly has the chops to pull off the work, it’s still something of a nightmare for anyone to think they are that far behind on rehearsing and memorizing.
And if that wasn’t enough to scare her, she later tweeted another surprise from her dream.
“Oh! And I was also using a RED highlighter instead of my usual yellow,” she wrote. “WHAT IS HAPPENING?”
Melissa Claire Egan isn’t alone about thinking of the day soaps reopen for business and what needs to be done to get ready. Several daytime stars—including Days of our Lives Stephen Nichols (Steve; ex-Tucker, YR) during a recent Q&A—have talked about how they hope to have some time to get ready once the stay-at-home order lifts. After all, many haven’t been keeping to their workout regimens and there’s been a lot of at-home baking going on!
But most would agree that even without notice to change a little bit of quarantine lifestyle, it would be worth being back to work! The Young and the Restless (YR) airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for airtimes.
