There’s no question that EJ has always had a bad side on Days of our Lives. However, EJ, enjoying the pain Paulina is in now that Lexie has returned, crosses a line even for him. EJ has gone from bad boy to a man with a dark side that is very reminiscent of his villain father.
Key Takeaway
- Abe clocked EJ enjoying Paulina’s pain.
- EJ’s selfishness has turned him darker than before.
- His behavior is very Stefano-like.
Like Father Like Son
When Abe (James Reynolds) was thanking EJ (Dan Feuerriegel) for resurrecting Lexie (Nikki Crawford), he noticed something about him. EJ was shocked to learn that Abe was even considering staying with Paulina (Daniel Feuerriegel) instead of reuniting with Lexie.
It seemed like a no-brainer to EJ that Abe would pick Lexie. In EJ’s eyes, there was no choice to be made; it was all about his sister and the love Abe shared with her.
However, his words weren’t really the giveaway. EJ smirked and smiled at the thought of Paulina suffering, letting Abe know EJ got pleasure out of his wife hurting. There’s no love between Paulina and EJ, that’s for sure, but this was different.
EJ enjoys seeing Paulina struggle; it was one of the reasons he told her about Lexie in the first place. Watching Paulina deal with keeping the secret from Abe and Theo (Tyler Joseph Andrews) was pure bliss for the DiMera heir who cares nothing about Paulina’s suffering.
The dark side EJ has been embracing lately, which also includes his pure hatred for his sister Kristen (Stacy Haiduk) and obsession with getting more money than he already has with the new drug, is so Stefano (Joseph Mascolo).
Stefano enjoyed torturing his enemies, especially the Brady family, as if he had nothing to lose. EJ has been the same way for a long time. Remember, he did rape Sami (Alison Sweeney), which resulted in Johnny (Carson Boatman), without hesitation, because he wanted Sami.
However, after he was in Italy recovering from his life-threatening burns and returned to Salem, EJ didn’t seem as bad as before, like perhaps he had changed. Then he started showing his true colors, doing what was best for him regardless of the consequences.
Look what he did to Belle (Martha Madison) and Chanel (Raven Bowens) at Johnny’s trial last summer. Like his father, EJ does exactly what he wants without any consideration for others or his loved ones.
Even when Johnny wasn’t speaking to him or when he got shot, EJ didn’t change; he continues to be vindictive. The more obsessed EJ becomes with his own agenda, the more evil and darker he becomes.
This may be an unpopular opinion, but we like a dark EJ. What about you?
