On Days of our Lives, Emily O’Brien’s Gwen has been stuck in jail, pining for her love, Xander Cook, and fans are clamoring for her jail time to end and for her to get back involved in the Salem scene.
Off-screen, the three-time Daytime Emmy nominee has stayed busy with a new short film she created. The actress, who also played Jana Hawkes Fisher on The Young and the Restless from 2006-2011, took to Instagram to alert fans of her achievement.
“Here’s a peek at the trailer for my short film entitled ‘Too Close’- I am so fortunate to have made this with my beloved team alongside me,” O’Brien posted, adding a short trailer for the film. “My vision couldn’t have been brought to life without any of you, I am truly touched by your tenacity & genuine love for creativity!”
In the video, a couple from about 70 years ago enjoy a picnic together and contemplate their closeness. “Isn’t it interesting when two people become so close, they almost turn into one another?” the girl, played by O’Brien, asks.
Jerome Charvet, who plays “the boy” in the film, responds, “Like you and me? Are we too close?” What follows are some romantic words about being “too close” and why that’s a phrase that is a good thing for this couple who are so deeply in love.
Emily O’Brien, who directed the film, uses hashtags to call out some of the amazing crew she worked with on “Too Close,” including cinematographer Paul Salmons, editor Gerard Roxburgh, sound mixer Scott Neff and Ryan Erwin, who did the original score.
One of those to take a peek at the video was her on-screen love Paul Telfer (Xander Cook), who commented, “Looks absolutely gorgeous Em!” Others from daytime who chimed in with support include DAYS co-stars Linsey Godfrey (Sarah Horton) and Greg Rikaart (ex-Leo; also her one-time Y&R hubby, Kevin Fisher). Here’s hoping that Gwen and Xander can share a lovely picnic like this together — free from jail and wandering eyes who question their unconventional romance.
