When it comes to young talent, Days of our Lives may be leading the daytime pack. The soap currently has a trio of ingenues who are featured in major storylines and handling it like pros. And what makes it even more interesting is the fact that they’re all linked to legacy characters.
Days of our Lives: Super Ciara
Victoria Konefal’s Ciara is everything Vivienne Giovanni’s wasn’t – fun, feisty, and full of fire. She’s feminine but fierce; vulnerable but strong. She’s developed Bo and Hope’s daughter into a bona fide leading lady, and her chemistry with Robert Scott Wilson (Ben) helped viewers accept what initially seemed like an impossible pairing. (Remember, he was The Necktie Killer.)
Konefal also shares great onscreen rapport with Kristian Alfonso (Hope) and Brandon Beemer (Shawn), and her special relationship with John Aniston, who plays her grandfather Victor, is heartwarming.
Hurricane Claire
In the hands of a lesser actress, Claire could have been an unlikable wild child. But in the hands of 2020’s Outstanding Younger Performer, Olivia Rose Keegan, she is so much more. Keegan always keeps viewers guessing with the subtleties in her delivery of Claire.
Is she crazy? Is she healed? Is she lying? Is she telling the truth? You never know for sure, but you keep watching because Keegan is so darn fascinating. She’s made Shawn and Belle’s daughter a totally unpredictable hot mess.
Newbie Allie
It’s been years since a character hit the ground running as hard as Lindsay Arnold. From the moment she joined DAYS as Lucas (Bryan Dattilo) and Sami’s (Alison Sweeney) pregnant teenage daughter, Allie, she’s been effortlessly driving storyline.
Arnold is a perfect mix of sugar and spice. She’s sweet and soft-spoken, yet can be loud and powerful in scenes where she needs to stand up to her controlling parents. As a viewer, you want to see more of her, because she’s so gifted and captivating to watch.
Where’s Johnny?
DAYS is three for three when it comes to ingenues. So maybe it’s time the show branch out and add a younger leading man or two to the mix. Tops on the list should be Johnny, Allie’s twin brother. Having been fathered by EJ, Johnny is half Brady, half DiMera.
It’s an interesting combo, and the possibilities for how they’ve shaped the young man would be intriguing. In addition to Johnny, there’s also the father of Allie’s baby. Having him turn up in Salem would certainly complicate things for Allie and whoever ultimately ends up adopting her baby. Days of our Lives (DOOL) airs weekdays on NBC.
