Lauren Koslow Days of Our Lives
Soap supercouples aren’t restricted to existing on-screen duos. Days of Our Lives veteran Lauren Koslow recently shared her thoughts about her real-life husband Nicky Schillace, head of the NBC soaps’ makeup and hair department, for a very special occasion.
“Happy Birthday my love ❤️,” Koslow posted on Instagram, adding a love poem written by celebrated artist E.E. Cummings. “‘I carry your heart with me (I carry it in my heart) I am never without it (anywhere I go you go, my dear; and whatever is done by only me is your doing, my darling) I fear no fate (for you are my fate, my sweet) I want no world (for beautiful you are my world, my true) and it’s you are whatever a moon has always meant and whatever a sun will always sing is you.”
Two of DAYS’ most recognizable leading ladies Melissa Reeves (ex-Jennifer) and Kristian Alfonso (ex-Hope) chimed in with birthday wishes for Schillace. “❤️❤️❤️😘😘Happy Birthday Nicky !!!” Alfonso posted. Added Reeves: “Happy Birthday 🎂🎉🎈.”
Cummings’ poem is titled “I Carry Your Heart with Me” and was first published in 1952. The poet’s name is immediately recognizable as his name appears in lower case in his works. Cummings was an essayist, painter, playwright, and author, and, of course, poet.
He wrote about 2,900 poems, two autobiographical novels, numerous essays, and four plays over the course of his life. (Cummings passed away in 1962 at the age of 67.)
Koslow and Schillace met on the set of The Young and the Restless in the 1980s where she played schemer Lindsey Wells and he was part of the show’s makeup department. DAYS and YR aren’t the only soaps on their respective resumes. After exiting Genoa City, Koslow was cast as Margo Lynley, on The Bold and the Beautiful, a member of that show’s original cast.
Schillace worked on Knots Landing and Beverly Hills 90210. Veteran KNOTS fans may recall the character of “Nick Shillace” on that show (played by Lorenzo Caccialanza, ex-Nico, DAYS) was named after the makeup artist.
Today, they both work on the long-running NBC serial. Soap Hub joins Koslow in wishing Schillace a Happy Birthday and many happy returns! Days of Our Lives airs weekdays on NBC. Check local listings for air times.
