Days of our Lives star Camila Banus is the latest performer to test positive for the coronavirus. The actress shared the news on Instagram.
Banus began her video by wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and commented on the unusual rain that was happening in Los Angeles and then, she broke the big news.
“I was traveling in Florida, got engaged, which was super amazing, and was heading back on the 25th and wasn’t feeling right, so your girl got a COVID test, and I tested positive,” she shared. “It is what it is. I’m a strong girl. I’m keeping up with my vitamins and I don’t have any [major] symptoms.”
Banus said she had some congestion and is doing her 10-day quarantine. “I’ll be checking in with my health providers in 10 days and I’ll see how that goes,” she says. “Just getting better. The only real symptom I have is I can’t smell or taste anything. I shoved [some] Vicks in my nose – can’t smell that.” She says it’s unusual drinking and tasting food that she can’t detect. Banus says she’s going to follow her health provider’s directives.
Banus added a ‘diamond tear’ effect to her eyes to represent how she’s feeling. She adds she plans on coming up with some fun videos while she’s quarantining. For now, Banus says, her fiancé, Marlon Aquino, doesn’t have any symptoms, but he’ll quarantine with her as a precaution.
She’s looking forward to developing antibodies and is keeping a chart to record any symptoms. “I don’t have a cough,” she says. “Thank you guys for all the nice comments and suggestions. It’s a matter of staying safe.” She plans on washing her hands a lot and disinfecting. “If you have any recommendations or information, feel free to send me an email.”
Banus says she only took her mask off in order to do this Instagram story and says she has been wearing one and was pretty safe. “I never take my mask off. I feel like I’ve been pretty diligent. But I don’t have a respiratory issue.” She adds that she has both energy and an appetite.
She’s doubling up on Vitamin D3 and taking Vitamins C and zinc, too. She’s also staying hydrated. “I can breathe through my nose, which is really good,” she says.
No word yet on if DAYS will need to temporarily recast Gabi while the actress self-quarantines. For the latest on the coronavirus, visit the Center for Disease Control website. Soap Hub wishes Banus a speedy recovery. Days of our Lives airs weekdays on NBC. Check local listings for airtimes.
