After destroying Eric Brady and Nicole Walker Brady’s anniversary party – orchestrating the reveal of Nicole and Xander Cook’s one-night stand with no regard for the hurt and humiliation it would cause her brother and his wife, Days of our Lives’ Sami Brady DiMera totally deserves Nicole’s payback. And, perhaps even more so, EJ DiMera’s wrath.
Sami (Alison Sweeney) knew she was playing with fire when she set out to uncover Nicole’s (Arianne Zucker) indiscretion. She didn’t care that Nicole was vulnerable and lonely and had made a mistake. She didn’t care that exposing his wife’s fling would break Eric’s (Greg Vaughan) heart.
All Sami cared about was sticking it to her longtime nemesis, outing Nicole as an adulteress, and making her pay the ultimate price: losing Eric. But Sami’s judge and jury act was fatally flawed, considering she was guilty of the same “crime” as Nicole. She cheated on her husband, EJ (Dan Feuerriegel), too. So she really should have considered the consequences, if Nicole found out and decided to plot a payback plan.
As fate would have it, Nicole didn’t have to plot anything. The evidence of Sami’s affair was dropped into her lap, when Philip Kiriakis (Jay Kenneth Johnson) handed her Kristen DiMera’s (Stacy Haiduk) tell-all letter to EJ, revealing Sami had cheated on him with Lucas Horton (Bryan Dattilo). All Nicole had to do was present the letter to EJ and let the chips fall where they may.
After giving the situation some thought – Did she really want to stoop to Sami’s level? – Nicole decided to unleash the truth. She marched over to EJ’s office, handed him Kristen’s note, and exposed his duplicitous wife. Nicole’s payback was swift and easy, and Sami totally deserved it. All Nicole did was turn the tables on her. Sami had set the ground rules, and Nicole simply followed them – one cheater outing another. In all honesty, Sami doesn’t even have a right to be angry with her (not that we expect that to stop her).
The best part of the storyline is yet to come – EJ’s response, wrath, and follow-through. He won’t simply disappear from Sami’s life as Eric did with Nicole. There will be no quiet, civilized dissolution of their marriage.
EJ’s not kind and loving like Eric. He’s cutthroat and vindictive, and sure to initiate a revenge scheme against Sami. Perhaps he’ll expose her duplicity in a far more grievous and shameful way than Sami did with Nicole. In the end, Sami will deserve every wretched second of it, since she’s the one who set the whole twisted game in motion.
